OK...got my Magnaflow system done yesterday. Wow...sounds REALLY good, the only drawback is a resonance in the cabin around 3000 rpm when I am on the throttle more than partway. Doesn't bother me but my gal may not like it.

The overall sound is very deep...definitely sounds like a high dollar performance turbo 4 sports car now...not some econo-car with the stock exhaust. No Honda "Fart can" sound at all...just a deep mellow growl...

If i were you i would shop around in your area to get an idea of the price. I paid 355 OTD for everything. Gas is getting expensive and could easily make or break the deal in terms of price...

anyway, here is a link to the shop i went to.

The problem is that there aren't any reputable exhaust shops locally, and they don't like to deal on price (they try to sell at MSRP). It's worth a 200 mile round trip to go somewhere reputable, that has experience with this platform, and will get it done right. Can you PM me your name, so I can drop it to them when I call and request the same deal?

Thanks!

Now I am running into a problem 2.5 inch outlet on the exhaust but all of the nice tips I want are 2.25 inlets. What do I do. I don't know a thing about exhausts so go easy on me.

I'ts alright. Check this link, It gives you a magnaflow with 3" inlet and dual 2.25" outlets. The only thing is that with those measurements it only comes polished, which is a bit more $.

But here it is http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=6995

With the part # from magnaflow, you can after google and several vendors with better prices will pop up. Don't pay attention to the magnaflow website price.

That would mean you woudl have 2.5" piping. I think it would be fine, some increase from stock to relieve some backpressure, should yield some power and a good sound.

most tips have an inlet size of 2.25 inches. Any competent muffler shop can cut the inlet of the tip to a diameter of 2.5 inches since the tips usually have a taper to them on the inlet size.

ghosthound, could you please tell me what part # for the tips, muffler and piping you used? I'm guessing the piping was just from Specialized Exhaust, but the Magnaflow Muffler Part # 14256 that jose posted, does not look like the muffler you shown on your car on page one, as your muffler has two outlets out the back, where the Muffler jose posted with part # 14256 only has 1 outlet on each side.

I plan on making this purchase soon, so any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

You're all set with those. Instead of getting the parts shipped to you then having the muffler shop do the piping. See if they have those parts available and maybe match the price, they did for me.

that looks right to me. the muffler is a 3" in and dual 2.5" out.

those are the exact tips i have and you will like them a lot!!

As for the piping, the shop will take care of that, just make sure the place you go to can bend 3" tubing.

to make things easier, first ask the shop for the price of just the install for a custom 3" catback assuming you bring your own muffler and tips... then ask them if they can match the price for the parts on performance peddler. Most muffler shops will have contact with distributors that can get the parts next day which is way better than waiting for shipping. I was lucky enough arrange such a deal. Called on thursday, installed on friday.

Also, i paid $355 for parts, labor, and tax.. see if you can get around there. Ask if they will price match labor as well... the shop i went to took the cheapest price for install and piping, and cheapest price for the muffler and tips even though they were from separate companies.

Thank you both for the replies! Any idea on where or how the Muffler Shop needs to cut the existing piping? I took it to a muffler shop today just to get an overview of the situation and he seemed reluctant to cut the piping and suggested that it would need to remove the first cat (closest to the back of the car). Any description or pictures of where the cuts were made, would be greatly appreciated.

because i went for 3" piping, the shop cut part of the beveled "endcap" on the cat so that it would mate up to the cat perfectly. This allows me to keep both cats while avoiding unnecessary adapters.

ghosthound: maybe you can let that muffler shop know that you other club members wanting the same deal. I live in Nor Cal and would love to do this. Maybe he could work out a deal with a few of us???

Nice thread by the way.

Thanks Auto Pilot for the help. ghosthound specifically said they were 4" tips, and thus leads me to believe they are actually part # 35121. I have them on order and should know in a few days.

For those interested in doing this, the correct part numbers are:
Muffler - #12288
Tip(x2) - #35121
