19lbs of boost!

Just an update. I just installed the ALTA boost guage. I am hitting 19lbs max boost. I am happy since I just installed the ALTA FMIC.

Adam, what were you getting?

Man you've got a strong one!
That is sweet, is the Alta FMIC what gets you up to 19?

man those gauges are hot!! is there anyway you can mount 4 of them? i want to eventually get boost, oil pressure, water temp, and oil temp.

I think there was a mount made for the r53 but i dont remember seeing one for the r56.

Looks good Mike! I can't wait till I get my new R56. Does anyone know the max boost of the JCW tunning R56 package?

I think the JCW stage 1 bumps it to 14 to 15 lbs all the time, as opposed to 11 to 12 stock. Don't quote me on that though.

Hmmmm....so the Alta may do 5psi more than the super expensive JCW tunning. If your numbers are right, I will go with the Alta or maybe GIAC if they can do it in the next month or so.

Mine has peaked at up to 23 on occasion according to the MAP readings from a ScanGauge II OBDII reader.

Was that before the FMIC?

No, after all of the ALTA bolt on mods and PnP ECU. My MCSa was their test vehicle for the PnP on an automatic transmission. If I remember right when it was on the dyno it was getting 20-21 PSI boost on my more aggressive map (which is the one I use all of the time).

Hmm.. that signal should be clamped, otherwise the ECU can read maximum boost and thus the dealer will know you over boosted the car.

No one makes an adapter yet to mount an oil pressure sender and/or oil temp sender.

I'm planning on just buying a gauge and trying to put something together to mount an oil temp sensor in with the OE oil pressure switch.

I wasn't sure if it would read the higher boost pressure using the OBDII port but it seems to be picking it up from the MAP sensor. I'm not sure where the signal is being spliced in between the ECU, PnP ECU and MAP sensor. I also still need to test it with the PnP ECU removed to see if it reads the lower MAP pressures correctly. I'm not 100% convinced that signal is accurate from the OBDII port with a PnP ECU installed.

I'm headed to the ALTA Showroom Grand Opening tomorrow so I may end up getting a normal boost gauge and water temp gauge pods.

Hmm....or I'm sure someone up there will have a boost gauge installed and we can hook up my ScanGaugeII to see if the values match up.

I'm sure the higher boost value isn't making it to the ECU. Unichip claims there is no trace left behind when it gets removed, I trust 'em.

Not sure on the setup but if you read the boost via the OBDII that reading is from the ECU!

But is it from the PnP ECU or the OEM ECU? I'm thinking it is reading from the PnP ECU. I'd have to see wiring diagrams on how everything is spliced together to say for sure though.

The OBDII port reading has to be from the ECU. Are you sure the OBDII software reads in PSI? Maybe its 23 of something else?
