Should be PSI but then again its not gauge psi but absolute so one whould have to remove the 14.7 psi of the atmo....

I have the units set to PSI. I do not know if there is any difference in the reading from the MAP sensor and what a gauge would display while driving, at idle yes I think their may be a difference. Under load, I would assume it should be the same since a gauge is hooked up to the MAP sensor.

So if you back out the 14.7 it makes more sense, you saw only 8psi. But that seems too low?

Terry,

I think you are correct. My friend has the scanguageII and on his MINI he sees a max of 28lbs.

Well, I was incorrect. Slowboost, Terry, and Mike are right. I wasn't 100% sure how the ScanGaugeII displayed the values. The documentation on it doesn't talk about the MAP values.

The ScanGaugeII is reading the lower fooled boost signal from the ECU plus the relative pressure of 14.7 The ScanGaugeII does not retain a peak value from the MAP sensor. On Saturday when I was up at Alta's Showroom Grand Opening event, I took a friend for a quick ride to hear my exhaust, during the ride he monitored the MAP values from the unit. It peaked at 27.9 which would coincide to about the stock maximum boost levels.

Alta was out of the boost gauges for the R56, but I've purchased one. It should be shipped out to me in the next couple of days. I'm hoping to be able to install it this weekend so I can really see how much boost I'm getting with my more aggressive PnP ECU mapping.

I'm glad getting the boost value wasn't the only reason I purchased it .

Hey guys and gals,

The boost gauges are still shipping all the time. I have more boost gauges coming in this week and most will go right back out. So my apologies to those that have had to wait.

You can mount up to three gauges from ALTA on one TACH. Two on the sides and one on top.

I see generally around 19-20 peak Psi in my car with the ALTA PnP ECU. I don't know about Boogering with the other output signals. Jeff will pop in shortly to contribute what he can.

Thanks again! SimpsonGI nice to see you at the event!

Yup, you guys figured it out! The OBD tool is not a good way to measure ignition timing or MAP sensor readings as the Unichip screws with these quite a bit. Let us know when you get the gauge installed and what boost levels you see with them.

Takes a bit more than 10 minutes. But overall the instructions are good and if you have reasonable mechanical skill you should be done in short order. Any of us at ALTA or on NAM that have done it would be HAPPY to help you out!

Let us know!

According to my newly installed boost gauge, I'm getting 19lbs of boost max thus far.

Installed my Autometer boost gauge today.Went with the 2 5/8 gauge(easier for my old eyes to see). I also like that it matches the face of the stock instruments pretty close. Now once my replacement PnP arrives, I'll have a better idea of what's going on.

Nice! I am looking at the Autometer as well, but the Ultra-Lite II style. Which gauge pod holder did you use? Alta?

Made one out of a 1/2" of flat stock. I bent it to follow the contour on the back of the tach and is held on by the two lower screws. If the Alta pod would accept the 2 5/8"(67mm) gauge, I probably would have bought it.

According to my boost gauge I've hit a peak of 16psi. Not quite sure when I hit that but it hits 15psi very consistently. Only mods I have are boost tubes and inlet hose. I think it's safe to say I'm catching mod fever with this car.

Has anyone fitted the Alta Pnp ECU remap with a previously install JCW tuning kit fitted? I was talking to the guys from alta at AMVIV and they weren't sure if anyone had done that yet, at least in a warm climate like Florida (Brisbane Au).

Requires specific mapping, WE haven't released those yet. Should be soon!

Thanks for asking!

How do you clear that signal so the dealer wont know?
I have an OBD II scan tool
