Drivetrain Blew motor up!!! AGAIN!!!
Plus there typically aren't recalls when stock cars are okay and modified cars are breaking
It is always good to have people pushing the envelope, though. I'll let you guys find the limits, then pick a safe spot short of them for my upgrades.
I can't afford the trial and error part

however, # 4 is also the end of the injector rail... so that could be an issue as well... but I doubt it since I am running stock fuel sys other than my injectors.
from what Mario said "the motor locked up" I would think something to do with oil, or lack there of

I do know for a fact my air/fuels were right on because of my air/fuel gauges and my car was just dyno'd a week before that. At 7300rpm I'm in the 11's, which seems to be very safe.
I should know more by the end of the week.

too bad these babies didnt have a pressure kill switch controlled in conjunction with rpm . say at idle you're at say ... 15lbs. this is fine for idle but lets say you're at 3000 rpms ; i'd want that same 15lbs to kill the engine . anybody make such an animal?

Oil is an issue with our cars during heavy cornering. There has been a few blown engines because of this.
Shocking
but Jan just made a new oil pan that keeps the oil flowing during heavy cornering. I had a pic but can't find it. The thing is it may not break during your track or canyon run but each time you go out and push your high HP/RPM mini you "may" be doing damage that could cause failure when you least expect it.
Maybe when Jan gets back he will be willing to talk about it. I think they are close to being able to produce production units.

silly... being that I am not a sea level.. and the temps have been cool lately... a few times I have spiked 35+ lbs of boost... I need better tires.... with the FMIC and 35 lbs... I am curious what HP I am gaining...

Sorry to get off track guys...

wow... i have never heard of that happening on a MINI. The dealership built about 12 race cars and some have even competed in grand am... (all with stock oilpans) and never had an issue with oil starvation... sounds like a great theory... but haven't experianced it ever... with about 12 cars and 30K+ race only miles

It would really be cool to see 4 o2 sensors, one for each cylinder to show the programming effects on the individual cylinder instead of a blended figure that the single o2 sensor sees. THen you could have slightly seperate maps for each cylinder or correct/port match so that you wouldn't have one cylinder run leaner than the other and risk damage....

don't those grand am cars make about 180whp?

I had a 1987 E30 M3. One of the first mods recommended for this vehicle to install a $50 oil pan baffle. The very expensive engines were prone to burning out the #3 rod bearing due to oil starvation in cornering. The Factory never did anything about this well know issue as far as I know.
I believe Jan is working on a similar easy to install fix. Jan recommends running extra oil in the sump (1/2 qt.). He says that the crank does not splash it so it is ok. I hope I got this right Jan.
Has anyone installed an Accusump system to avoid momentary low oil pressure situations?
