the sound will get a bit louder as it breaks in & don't worry about painting inside the tip, it'll go black inside there quickly on its own.

the turbo spools up quicker and the car feels a lot quicker, but I'm sure plenty of people will argue that some of that seat-of-the-pants quickness is because it sounds more powerful
.. but it's the seat of the pants feeling that makes a car great.

I called Northwest Mini before ordering/installing mine & the service advisor told me "Mini's are all about you-ification" so they don't have any problems with mods like the exhaust or springs, so long as I don't expect them to cover squeaks & rattles or other problems with the aftermarket parts.

Has anyone else installed the full turboback on their '08 MCS (Dec.07 or later build) ?

The mfr. generally has little or no concern past the cat. So this one should be a smooth sailing mod in all regions of the world.

You're not going to be looking at it from that angle. From a standing point of view I think it looks absolutely fantastic. I'll try and post some pics soon. BTW- none of these installs are all that "easy" or "quick"! I had a private jet/airplane mechanic do mine with my assisting him and it took about four hours. He also does all the work on his cars. He did a very professional job, and getting all the back stuff on was pretty simple, but getting the first part on that connects to the turbo was a pain in the *** as far as getting to screws (mostly the heatsheild stuff). Great results though and highly recommended!
SWEET! Glad you got it all on. The DP can be a bugger with those stupid heat shield bolts. Stupid BMW!

Glad everything else is kool. Thanks again!

Good point!

At least what you can understand of..

Well, it feels faster, and certainly sounds much faster? Hard to quantify as I haven't done any pre or post dyno's or 0-60 runs etc.

Has anyone who recently received their cat-backs had any issues regarding the included hardware?

You seem to be currently in an isolated bunch. Again my apologies the clamp was left out. We will get it to you ASAP. Christina should have contacted you by now.

Sorry again for the inconvenience!

well, they got in contact with me, but didn't ship it until late in the day. why, i would love to know. i spoke with christina in the morning who said it would be shipped overnight today. however ken called late this afternoon informing me that it in fact hadn't shipped yet. so much for overnight delivery; looking at a wednesday delivery now (i don't appreciate being lied to). this entire experience has been incredibly inconvenient.

I honestly feel for your situation. I truly do. BUT, the time being AM or PM really makes no difference. (We get FedEx Priority Pickup around 4 pm our time) Meaning if it ships in the PM we can still overnight it. I do know the part shipped today. (I was all over folks today to get it done for you as I said.) You should get tracing information either later tonight to your e-mail or in the morning.

I can't imagine any reason why it won't be there Tomorrow or Wednesday.

Again, my apologies, but I don't think you were "lied" to. And even if a mistake was made it would never be done intentionally.

Lets cross fingers you get it in the AM.

Chat soon!

This will be my last post in this thread regarding the issue, as I don't want to thread jack:

Thanks for enlightening me about your shipping procedure. In the future it might be a good idea to tell people this, as I misunderstood the situation. I do thank you for your help. I agree, lets hope for delivery today so I can post something a little more positive

Finally got my cat-back installed yesterday, and I gotta say, its friggin' sweet . Easy install with no major hiccups.

Noticeably quicker and a little louder than I expected (but I was pleasantly surprised!). And the tips look like how they should come from the factor IMHO... they really fill out the rear-valence. Overall very happy. Pics tomorrow (its too crappy out today )

Install the turbo back next and drive down a narrow street with buildings on each side with foot to the floor for a few seconds. Talk about the mouse that roared.

I find it almost impossible now to find any place I can floor it for a few seconds but it's definately worth driving with the windows down. The system does get better & louder with a bit of break-in.

Question about removal of resonator

I have been waiting until the Alta Dual Tip Cat backs are in stock and it seems they are. Over the last couple of months while they were on back order I was able to ride in a stock cooper S with Alta Cat back. Unfortunately, the only person in my club with this combo took out the resonator. During the ride along we went on the freeway and at 65-70 mph when he would lift off the gas there was a considerable amount of drone. This has scared me away because I have owned cars that droned under load before and it gets annoying. How much would the drone have been reduced if the resonator was left in? What is the main job of the resonator? I guess what I'm asking is would leaving the resonator in reduce the drone at least 30% or so.

I guess the only people who could answer this would be someone who had the Alta Cat Back and removed the resonator or Alta themselves.

Thanks for asking! The resonator is SOLELY there to remove resonance at cruise and harsh blattiness. Our kit does NOT drone at freeway speeds.

Hope that helps! Thanks again!

Just to clarify

Just so I can understand this. Are you saying the Low Frequency resonance that I heard on the freeway when cruising at 70 and then letting off the accelerator was caused by the removal of the resonator. I also heard it quite a bit when in sixth gear and lightly accelerating at low RPM.
