Not to mention I'm far from exactly good at waiting... I've waited to install this system long enough.

 

Is it noticeably louder than stock? I want something that i can hear when i get on it... The stock exhaust is actually decently loud but i want louder!!

It definitely is. Initially I was quite disappointed about 'only' being able to go cat-back (downpipe is on national backorder until the 1st week in March) because I'd heard that it doesn't offer a very noticeable sound/power increase. But I've been pleasantly surprised already and the sound is supposed to get louder still with time.

I know many people complain about the stock sound, but I found it to be decently loud and nicely toned as well. However, the ALTA system takes it up a significant notch. The sound from the outside at idle is particularly noticeable - nice and deep. During regular highway cruising the sound is definitely louder, but not hugely so. However, when you get on it, that thing roars like it's pissed and I love it!

Between the sound of the ALTA CAI and exhaust, I find myself turning off the radio (and I'm a huge music junkie) all the time just to hear that sweet sound. I can totally feel the power increase as well, particularly up top. It actually makes sense now to rev it to red line.

Also small point in case anyone is wondering, the ALTA cat back fits fine into the R56 with seats down. OEM doesn't however, as it's just one unwieldy piece (ALTA's is two).
Off topic, but I've been quite surprised with what I can fit in the boot. 4 17x7.5" wheels in the boxes and (on a separate occasion of course) 4 OEM 16x6.5" wheels with 195/55/16 tires on them.

 

What's "the new system"?

 

hasn't been announced yet, but Alta is hinting different tips if nothing else.

 

When are these new tips gonna be available? I might be getting the cat-back for my birthday at the end of Feb. just wondering if they'll be available alittle bit before then?

Just got more bad news from Kenn while checking up on the rest of my order, I've been tripping over the downpipe section for a couple weeks now & it sounds like I may not even get the rest of it in time to install before driving down to AMVIV
(leaving early to roadtrip down the coast).

Bad news: no oval tips for another weekish!

On the DP: What did Ken say the issue was? Last I checked we had some non-polsihed or coated in stock. Let me know!

 

Wait, I'm confused . Are they shipping Friday?

 

If you would like to switch and order from the dual tip to an oval tip, then your order will ship about 1-2 weeks faster than if you keep the order with the dual tips.

Dual Tip versions are being finished up. Steve handles our vendor relations, and he is in Vegas. I just got off the phone with the vendor in ? and he is checking to see when they will be back here to ship.
