Drivetrain (Cooper S) MINI Cooper S (R53) intakes, exhausts, pulleys, headers, throttle bodies, and any other modifications to the Cooper S drivetrain.

Drivetrain Jan-tune nets 50hp! (Well actually 49.9)

BTW - I changed the oil and cleaned the air filter and the car even feels smoother and quicker than two days ago.
Doesn't seem possible but it just keeps getting better. Kind of wish I had done those two maintenance things before the tune.

This might be a good idea for all those getting a tune soon by the Jan man.

you have the most powerful for least amount of mods
your a/f was due to running out of injectors

Do you think I need to switch my 380s for 440s with 219 whp at redline? I think my AFR was high 12s at 7200.

We ran the 380's to over 250WHP on my car before running out of fuel at around 7k. They should be more then OK. Jan can comment on your AFR.

I've got a set of 400s I'd sell you.
I'll be buying 440s when I go to the next step - another 40hp!

Let me know.

So can the full benefits of the tune be realized with stock injectors? 380s?

I was wondering the same, my plans are only for a 15% pulley and some tuning, though depending on cost I could certainly do ejectors. I'm currently avoiding a CAI as too many of them have the guaze/oil filters which I don't like thier filtering performance (I'll go paper or foam/oil). I'd also like to avoid a new exhaust due to the daily driver status (I need to keep things quiet while driving as I take business calls while driving).

I have the Dinan 6 software currently.
This is an interesting question for me, too. I think one positive of the Dinan flash is that if you're near the Dinan installer and you think for some reason the dealer got rid of it, they'll check and replace it for free. I'm sure Jan would do something like this, too, but he just can't be everywhere all the time (though he seems to try).

The obvious negative to it is that it can't get the most out of your car because it wasn't designed for your specific car as RMW's tunes are.

I'm going to have the stage 5 Dinan software in the spring along with the boost upgrade system (offer I couldn't refuse - long story), and I guarantee I'll be wondering what else I could gain from a tune like this. One thing that keeps my wallet protected with regard to power mods is the fact that the stock MCS was plenty fast for me. Nevertheless, I'm interested to hear what you decide, clinttheminiowner.

380's are a good choice......the stock one's leave some power on the table, whereas the 380's give enough headroom at higher RPM

Longboard

yes, but your intake charge is so much cooler than an Eaton so it isn't a good comparison.

we have to use extra fuel in the Eaton to cool the cylinders down

380s are good for most cars, unless you have our RMW big valve head which needs the 440cc injectors that we sell. These are factory Bosch injectors so the spray pattern is ideal for the application.

Larry Clemens car is an abnomoly in the fact that it makes that much power in its configuration. Since the stock head isn't as efficient as the CNC'd head it takes more fuel to cool the engine properly.

The extra power is from the 62 mm TB and DFIC plus a bit of Viagra and Testosterone from my pharmaceutical supply.
