LOL, is it safe to assume your 4 Sale thread is "the other tuning solution," Paul?

Don't let prospective buyers see this thread!

Well, that's gotten me even more excited for our GTG in Topeka sometime in Feb, especially as I also have a JCW. Mine's dead stock tho, so it will be interesting to get those baseline numbers...........

Hi Paul,

Really nice numbers. Jan called me right after laughing in amazement at the improvement.

I'm sure you were thanking the man up stairs as well as Jan .

You still need to tell us how that much of an improvement felt like.

Whoa! I need to do both of those things as well. Man, I wish I had thought of that before hand but maybe what Jan did dealt with issues that a oil change and filter cleaning would only make better even after the tune.

I was getting 7.6 mpg at the track. I am hoping to lower it after the tune.

Jan said my gas mileage should really improve as well, less pedal punching to achieve equal results.
Also the engine timing improvement will certainly help gas mileage as well.

Well when Jan sent me out to test drive he was laughing out loud, he said I would be over amazed. I was.
I'm glad my wife stayed behind for the test drive at least. It was like cutting the chain to an anchor behind you. Jan changed the throttle take-up as well and the throttle was way more smooth and immediate, like taking out the slack on a cable throttle linkage and greasing it up alot. Make sense?

More torque has wonderful effects, it sure helps even when you find yourself in the wrong upper gear, I was now able to just power through it.

My wife thought I was a maniac on the way home. Highway 154 between Santa Barbara and Los Olivos (101) is a great place to consider Hp gains and Torque gains. Lots of CHPs though, be careful.

Can't wait to wash her when I get home (the car).

Jan,

Any plans on coming to the Detroit area? I'm amazed by these changes and I'd love to experience them for myself!

Heh, well I'm actually not quite ready for him yet as I need to get a pulley first! (trying to decide on % right now)

15% s/c pulley is generally the way to go; no heatsoak on the Dragon or racetrack like you'd get with a "smaller" pulley.

I fill my tank twice a week due to my 100 mile daily commute . My gas mileage has not gone down after the tune. It's not improved either, but that's entirely my fault--while it's true it takes less effort to go fast and should conserve gas--I just end up going that much faster driving the way I did before the tune. lol.

Congrats on the huge improvement---10 ft pounds was a day and night improvement for me, so I can only imagine what your 31 feels like for you!!

What impressed me most after the tune was the throttle response. Jan and I has spoke at length about my desires and I told him I was fine with the way the pedal felt now. I had adjusted to its take a breath and then things happen type of response. There was also a dead area on tip in like it needed to move 1/2 inch or so before there was any response when leaving a light. Now the pedal is right there, slight movement when leaving a light and the engine responds. I now find the response is much better, the slight hesitation has been removed. Small movements, such as flexing my big toe equate into very small increases. I've yet to track the MINI since the tune but I'm sure this better pedal "feel" will allow for much finer adjustments. The 2008 Track season can't get here soon enough, it's going to be a long 28 days of waiting...

the throttle delay is something I've hated since my wife bought her MCS Cabrio in Dec '04. Good to know there's a fix....another big name vendor promised me it was 'around the corner' at MOTD'06
