Drivetrain Borla Exhaust installed on the Mach V MINI
Borla Exhaust installed on the Mach V MINI
Borla makes two cat-backs for the R56, the "Touring" with a single muffler and the "Aggressive" with two smaller mufflers. Otherwise the systems are the same, with dual 4" tips. We installed the Touring on our shop car.
I love the look, and it sounds nice. Very discreet, not at all loud at idle or steady cruise. A little more bass sound. And on acceleration, there's a more raspy tone, but nothing that's in any way obnoxious. I don't think I'm going to be worried about attention from the law.

And, we took a little video!
Edit: Here's the twin-muffler "S-Type" system. Same except for there are two smaller mufflers in the rear, instead of one larger one. More aggressive sound.

The "Touring" system.
Really easy. Cutting the pipe is probably the hardest part. We used a Sawzall, which made short work of it.
Between the stock rear cat and the front muffler.
I assume not, since it's designed to slip-fit over the stock pipe, which is smaller than the aftermarket downpipe.

How was the install?
Where is the stock exhaust cut in order to install this?
Would it fit with Alta's downpipe?

I'd guess not, but we'll find out for sure some time soon when we put the car back on the dyno.

not to mention it's easy to reweld the stock system should one ever need to put it back on. heck, I just cut a system I sold in half and shipped it to Australia - the new owner had it tacked back together and installed. :tu:
Good luck finding an aftermarket exhaust the doesn't require cutting out the factory system.Car sounds great BTW, and those tips are hawt!!!
just got back from Mach V....I heard this in person. For you former R53 people, this system is to the R56 what the Milltek is to the R53.....not stock, but not a fart can either....just right.
Is this the same for those downpipes from Alta and Milltek?
I think that's the first video/clip of the Borla S system, it's really hard to tell the difference, how would you rate/compare them side by side ?
I love the Alta downpipe, but their muffler's just too quiet, it'd be great if there was a way to combine the two. I want to be able to remove & keep my stock exhaust un-modified (un-chopped) in case I ever need to take the car in for warranty purposes.
