Short Shifters

I guess no one uses these two shifters, so i need to look at another brand.I would have thought some one would be using shifters from these two highly respected vendors of NAM. B&M maybe?

I've had my Craven for months now with no issues, though I rarely shorten the shifter as much as possible.
It's a nice piece that is relatively easy to install.

Both ALTA and Craven are wonderful companies to work with.

I love my Craven which comes with an exterior hight adjustment that you can do while sitting at a red light. I have had it for months and it's been great. The feel is great and easy to shift.

The silver well cover piece is also very well designed item that adds a beautiful touch to the interior.

Thanks everyone, i guess i can't really go wrong with either,i like the Alta,it looks like the stick has a slight bend in it so i can rotate it a little closer to my leg.
Thanks Again,
Bill

My Alta SS has been installed for almost 3yrs now and "0" problems. Having the adjustability at the "red light" might be a nice feature but I like to know that it is in the same position everytime I reach for it. Doubt that you could go wrong with either product.

Thanks guys! Sorry for not jumping in here sooner. The ALTA design has been out since 2003. And while there may be imitations there has never been a better choice than ALTA. You can adjust ours at a stoplight, (but who would) using the supplied wrench. Simply pull up the boot, loosen one of the allen screws a 1/2 turn, rotate, push pull etc. then tighten back up. Simple as that. Also, the ALTA has no issues with the shaft not staying tight to the collar as found with (some) hand tightened versions.

no matter what choice you make (ok my feelings might be hurt ;-) you will love the improved feel and performance!

Enjoy! Let me know if I can help in anyway further!

I apologize if anyone is upset that I don't chime in with a sales pitch. I just didn't realize that was what this forum was for.

Happy Holidays!

I am sure that the Craven one works well, but I have the ALTA SSK and LOVE it. I have not had one problem with it. I think that either one works great!

im not positive but i dont think the bend in the shifter is designed to be turned sideways so it it closer to ur leg.. and i have no insight to offer, im juggling between these two brands as well.

The Craven Shifter is bent back toward the hatch. The channel on the shaft that ensures that it cannot be overadjusted also keeps the shifter from rotating. So you will not be able to move it closer to you.

Just the facts.

can some of you current short shift kit owners post pics of the shifter? preferably at the lowest setting, and maybe the setting u normally use. I've noticed that none of the shift kits advertise the reduction in height, only the reduction in throw..

I know this isn't the pic you're looking for, but just wanted to add I'm very happy with my Craven Speed SS.

I have the Alta installed in my car, its difficult to demonstrate the height change without a side by side comparison. I also have a CravenSpeed on the counter,(sorry no camera with me today). It is almost exactly 1 inch shorter than stock (with about a 20 deg. bend toward the rear) when fully extended (closer to stock throw). It drops down another inch at it lowest setting.
I sell them both, and would not think twice about using either in my own car. Hmm, it really is a tough choice

Can the Craven be used with the stock boot? Wouldn't mind the bend if the ALTA doesn't have one. THe Craven plate looks nice but it not my cup of tea.

Here is a shot of the black shiftwell cover. The stock boot DOES work with either shifter lever

All of our shifters have black stalks now, the shift well cover has no visable logo, and only black screws are supplied.

Thanks for posting the photo Dan! Do I need to update the website or what?
