Best way to change MCS Belt?

Searched - didn't quote find what I was looking for....

What is the best/easiest way to change the MCS belt? The first time I did it was with my pulley swap, so the motor way half out.

If someone has a link or an explination to the most efficient way, i would be grateful.

Thank you!

I did mine in 30 minutes. Pull inner fender out and use a piece of coat hanger for a tensioner lock tool ( easier to reach in tensioner ) remove belt , put on new belt, release tensioner, put inner fender back together.

Ditto - removing the right-front wheel and the inner fender liner makes all the difference in the world. The first time I did it, I thought I just needed the factory tensioner tool and it would be a five-minute job. But, there's really no room to work from the top of the engine. Going in from the side via the fender liner was *much* easier.

For me, the quickest approach is to drive the front up on ramps and remove the lower air dam. The easiest way to change the belt, is while the front (bumper & radiator support) is off the vehicle, but it takes longer.

My son (with a bit of help from me) just did a belt change at an auto-x event. SCCA Dist 33 -SFO - slush # 4
He did 1 run and sat on grid for run #2 ... the belt let loose!
We pushed the car to the parking lot and changed it in time to still do both runs in the correct group !

This was the first time that we left the tool at home !
So a jack handle and an allen were used.

Remove the pass front wheel and inner fender liner
I do keep a baggy of new "screw clips" as they really only seem to last for 2 or 3 uses

15 Min max without the tools

Thank you everyone!

Seems like getting the front corner up, the wheel off and the liner out are the way to go.

I'll get my stopwatch out this weekend and see how I do!

thanks again!

you actually don't need to even remove the wheel well. You can jsut remove the shroud that hooks up to the front bumper cover and attaches near the ps fan. Jack the passenger side of the car up. and feed the belt through the bottom of the car. That's actually the easiest.

I used to do it through the wheel well... but after watching waylen change belts in literally under 15 minutes. I do it from the bottom now. And i can do it in about 20.

Here's everything you need to know. I highly recommend getting the tool.
