Drivetrain SUBSTITUTE FOR BELT TENSIONER TOOL
SUBSTITUTE FOR BELT TENSIONER TOOL
Hey guys. I'm am planning on doing my own supercharger pulley install this afternoon. But I don't have a belt tensioner tool... is there something else I can do or use in place of the tool? If not, is there anywhere I can go rent one or buy one from TODAY? Thanks!
You can use a breaker bar of some sort but it's hard to get a good hold without the bar slipping off the tensioner. I'd suggest ordering a tensioner tool and hold off until you get it...
When Alta did mine, they used a long (36"?), SQUARE pry bar - available at OSH for $15.
With the bar resting on the front tensioner bolt (some people put a socket on it for more surface area) they pried up on the back (not sure where), then stuck and allen wrench in one of the now exposed holes in the back/top of the tensioner.
That's all I know.

Well I'm about to go with your method of the tensioner... AND... if your not doing anything later on, I have no problem LETTING you help me with the pulley install; its my first time. I'm actually in Kathleen, which is pretty much Perry. If so, give me a call 478-951-1438. If not thats cool, but thanks for the tensioner tool idea.Rich
I get off work at 5. I'll give you a jingle and stop by to see how it's going. I'm in my work car so don't be suprised when i pull up in an accord :P
