Drivetrain Atlanta Group Pulley Install
I'm with BeerBrewer, YEAH BABY! This car ROCKS!!!! Can't stand the "Oh what a cute little car" from all of your neighbors? Go get the pulley and the ECU and take them for a ride
Not one of them will say that again! Now THIS is the car I really wanted when I picked it up from the showroom. No stumble, great throttle response, power when you want it. Can you tell I love this car now?
The pulley party was the most fun I've had in years. I learned a tremendous amount about our cars from Randy. But the best part was just hanging out with everyone. You guys are great. I was laughing so hard sometimes I cried. I never heard so many one-liners in two days. If anyone has a pulley party "coming to your hometown" and are not even thinking about the mods, go to the party and just hang out. You will be glad you did!
Thanks has to go out to Jeff. For a party that was really organized as a last minute deal, it went off really well. The location was great (look at the pics!), we had everything that Randy needed, and Jeff was a great host. Well done!
And last but not least, THANKS RANDY! This guy can wrench with the best of them and keep you in stitches with the one-liners all day long.
Here are some pictures that Brandon took for us.
The pulley house!

The pulley garage.

Randy getting ready for the first one! Notice the organization?

Getting everything ready for the engine lift.

The lifting begins...

Ready for puller.

Pulley puller block being installed.

You ready? No going back!! PING!!! "Oh, that was a good one!"

Feeling a little exposed...

Pulley comparison

Pulley ready for install with NO heat!

...Later , pulley installed right before the lowering

Now for the ECU...

Some of the cars on friday...

A little custom stereo install thrown in

The best photo of the day!

I had a great time guys!!
I finally got home late last night after cleaning up and catching up on stuff I've been putting off for the last two weeks.
The crowd & the whole weekend went great. Wish it could've been cooler, but all in all I have no complaints. After the lot of you left Scott Randy & I went out for wings & got to do the field test through some back roads--it was..uh...entertaining! (Decreasing radius turns at night--you get the picture.)
I'll post more when I get a chance but I'm still slammed today. It'll suffice to say I'm happy. Most of the driving I've done since getting it in though has been with a bunch of tools flying around in the trunk so I haven't had as much time as I'd like just to play.
The pics are great & thanks for putting them up. For those that didn't make it, it was a driveway packed with MINIs all weekend. One guy brought a friend in an AC Cobra (Kraftworks, methinks.) Wicked cool.
I esp. dug the sano stereo set-ups of Scott and JB, and after riding in a couple of cars with the full monte set-up (intake/exhaust/chip/pulley) I have a new bar to shoot far (you bastards, I need to save money.)
Full report'll follow when I dig out from under the backed up work!

One of you guys was talking about that aluminum racing jack that Harbor Freight sells. Here's the link to the place that's selling it for $99.
(Couldn't remember who asked--sorry for the departure.)

Hey, Jeff, thanks for your great hospitality. Any guy who passes out Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is aces in my book! Hopefully the place was left as clean as it started when all was said and done. I had a great time meeting other MCS owners... Hope we all stay in touch! Again, Thanks!!

Ditto the thank you to Jeff and Randy and ditto having a great time. My only regret was that I went there to get the pulley upgrade (and did) but rode in a car that had the pulley AND the ECU. I'm not disappointed but I know what I am missing. Can't wait to get the ECU now.
As I mentioned while I was there, I used to be very involved with a club of another marque of car and since selling that car and buying my MINI, I haven't had the opportunity to hang out with a bunch of gear heads. The MINI owners in Hilton Head are more sparse than in a big city and most don't seem to be into doing what we were doing at the pulley party so I end up goofing around with my car on my own. If there is a next time, I plan to stay the night to enjoy the after work activities as well. I, too, hope to see you guys again. Maybe at the track next time.
Regards,
Joe.

Thanks to everyone who attended! It was definitely a blast.
Special thanks to Jeff who loaned out the garage and the housing
. He also managed to remove a few years from his life worrying over the arrangements beforehand
. Thanks!
A few reminders:
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Dog gone it, people like me!
Yeah baby!
I know the finger, Goose.
Good times, good times.
And that's... OK.
How you doin'?
This ain't no disco.
Thumbs up, not wrapped!
I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.
Take me to bed, or lose me forever!
Give me the baby (in heavy Scottish accent)!
And many more good memories...
The pulley autocross was excellent as well!
I'll post some of the pics I took once I have them all downloaded.

I think you forgot one, although I wasn't present when it was said but I believe it went something like, "You just said moist!".
Another just came to mind. Can't remember who said it (I think Darxar) but it was directed to the guy with the Cobra. "There's a puddle of oil under your car."
Best way to see a grown man turn pale.

Randy,
Here are a couple more one-liners to add to the repertoire!
From Steven Wright:
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
When everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
What happens if you get scared half to death twice?
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
