>>Has anyone found anything about a shop yet?

I have the names (thanks Conecarver) of shops that may be willing to lend us space. I'm going to follow up with two of them today. I'll give you a call also to find out exactly what you need.

Ok, dont know if this is important, I just got back from service at Global. I had a bit of a raddel on the drivers side door, which durning the test drive we could not reproduce, but they took both door pannels off and tightened all screws and lubed all hinges and vac, washed the Monk. Great service drove home 25 miles, no problems, service mgr was great, made friends with one of the mini mech. just to be on the safe side..

BUT...

let us know what to do, I.E. I dont seem to have a stumble issue, but I dont want to get the update and then mess up my ECU that you do for 699 to complement the pulley install.

Thanks, kent

Unfortunately we have a huge Miata event in TN that weekend, starting on Friday the 25th and lasting until the 27th and we will either be closed or minimally staffed with some lighter installs for that weekend. To see more about this huge event, click HERE.

While we do a large ammount of internet sales, please keep in mind that we are also a full service facility at RSpeed (we have been for over 12 years now) - meaning that we work on Miatas and Mini Coopers 6 days a week which is a large part of our business and our growing customer base. It would be very difficult for us to close down for a weekend just to do pulley installs.

We would be more than welcome to do something like this on any given Sunday (our day off) and provide lunch, entertainment, etc.

It just turns out that this particular weekend is booked for us and if you guys wanted to look into another Sunday, we'd be glad to set something up. There is already something in the works for us having a huge party for the Atlanta Mini group in September, so maybe we can look into this as well.

I have 5 confirmed that have called. I believe some on the original list haven't called yet, so it is possible we have seven. If LifeisGood and Mcooper haven't called, it would help if you could.

Here is who I have so far for sure:

Wes L.
Glenn M.
Kent
Scott G.
Marty

Now that we know RSpeed won't work, we still need to find a shop - although I did 18 cars in Cincinatti in a garage, so all I really need is a flat surface, a couple jack stands, two floor jacks, and a compressor. I can ship the rest of the tools there.

Thanks for the help - I'd love to see you guys! Maybe we can work out some pricing to make up for the lack of ten folks.

Add to this:

me (Jeff S. or FriedDuck)
James I. (from Atlanta Minis)

Two more maybes:
Oldandquitemad (from mini2)
Jason F. (from Atlanta Minis)

I have two more maybes unrelated to MCO. For these guys I'll get names, phone numbers and a firm commitment & forward to you Randy. Or are phone calls better (sometimes I understand you want to make sure people are really committed before travelilng!)

Jeff
ps: left you message on your voice mail last night. I'll call again on Monday.

Thanks for the help Jeff!

OK, so I have at least 7 - and maybe 9. That'll work perfectly. For those of you who haven't called yet, please do so I can get your contact info and whether or not you want the ECU.

Randy suggested that I contact you. I just called him to arrange for him to do my ECU while he's in Atlanta. It's only around 5 hours away and I would rather spend the day in Atlanta getting it done than wait a few days without my MCS.
Now, the problem is, I'm "navagationaly challenged". Old head injury in Vietnam that I won't bore you with. I hate to bother you with this but I'll end up in Alabama or somewhere. Once the location is decided upon, I would really appreciate if you would supply us with a good set of instructions on how to get there.( being an Atlanta native I believe). I'll be coming in from N.C. on I-85.
This would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, and Best Regards, Itzamazn

I'm definitely driving in to Atlanta from SOUTH WEST Florida.
I posted an Atlanta "Pulley Installation" notice in the Florida group here.
Heck, if I can drive from SW FL the Northern FL guys 'n gals ought to feel guilty!!

Yea, I'd better watch out alright.
I already beat my first rap on I-75 in Punta Gorda, FL two days ago.
The cop was in an unmarked all-white Dodge Intrepid. (dog---I pulled him in 5th)
I came on from the on-ramp doing 95 because there were no cop cars around---I thought.!! Now I know better. (the give-away is the all black spotlight on the drivers side door, not visible from where I was anyway).

Anyway, he stopped me, red and blue lights flashin' like hell.
He walked up to the MINI and here's the conversation, honestly this is it;
Cop: "Hey, what is this thing?"
Me: "It's a Mini Cooper S"
Cop: "It sure can crank huh?"
Me: "Yes sir, it's sure a lot of fun!"
Cop: "You were doin' 95 when you came onto the Interstate!"
Me: "I was?"..."In this little thing?"
Long pause while he walks to the front of the mini and returns.
Me: "I guess you got me, that's sure my favorite on ramp"
Cop: ....long smile
Cop: "Where do you get these things, I've never seen one before?"
Me: "Fermin Mini up in Tampa has 'em"
Me: "There's not many of them around here yet, oh, the guy that
owns the Celtic Ray pub has a green one"
Cop: "...Well, you take it easy, OK?".... he turned and walked away
almost before I could thank him!
The end.... (I must be livin' right)

I love it!

I can not wait till Friday 25th, after my pulley/ECU I am heading to Agusta GA for a Tennis tournament, then fly out to vegas for a week.

I can'nt wait to feel the extra pull and power. then all thats left is the exhaust (cat-back) and I am set for a while.

I am getting a BFP carbon hood scoop (silver) soon, I hope it adds a bit of personality with the power.

Keep your FL mini friends informed, lets make Randys stay one that is worth it.

Got mine done a few months ago at the South Florida Pulley party. Randy is a great mechanic as well as a great guy. I love my upgrades and am so happy with them. He did 21 cars in three days, I believe thats the record as of today. Good luck and hold on tight when you go on the test drive with him.

I only have the pulley and madness intake at this point and I'd definitely say my MINI rockets! ECU adn exhaust up next!

Hey guys:

I was waiting on a response from another garage (other than RSPeed) and found out it's a no-go this morning. I have 2-3 other options I'm looking into. I'm calling two today, and I'll post back when I have an answer. I can now appreciate all that mikehome1 must've gone through!

I'm not concerned, though. If we can't find a shop there are friends/family with garages and one of 'em will come through.

Jeff (lives in-town w/no garage, but walking distance to pubs!)

Ok sorry to ask so many question, but Are we going to have a choice of pulley?

I saw on another of Randys post that their are two types of pulleys, I guess If I had a choice the heaver one that lines up is the way to go, I dont think the
slight weight diff. would really make a difference. Anyway just a question.

thanks, kent

Silver,

There is still room. It is in Atlanta, and Jeff is diligently working on the specific location. I will be in SoCal and then Norcal for pulley parties until the 18th - but call and if you can get me, I'll put you on the list. With only 9 lined up so far, I think it will be a 2 day event - Friday and Saturday.

The pulley and installaiton is $400, the ECU is another $699. They by no means are required together, but it does make a significant difference in power to have both. There are several intakes to choose from - the Alta for $199, the Madness for $239, and the Pilo for $148.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Randy
