Drivetrain Atlanta Group Pulley Install
Randy is this going to be with the Alta pulley? I think its the one where No heat required for the installation on the supercharger and Capped end prevents installation problems with belt alignment and its All stainless steel?
also have not heard any updates from Jeff? anyone know the status of the site?

I am counting the days
Well I missed the Atlanta Mini meeting this weekend, I was stuck in Rome GA this weekend for a tennis Tournament. Hope to see some of you GA people in about 10 days from now at the Pulley/ecu party. Just read whats going on at other pulley parties, man the excitment is building, everyone is using those descriptive happy words that I am wanting to hear. and they all say its worth the money. If anyone was not sure, just go read some of the recent posts from the latest pulley party and you should have no problem deciding if you should turn your fast Mini S into a high preformance sports car that leave's the imprint of your body in the seat.
I think Jeff is still looking for an offical Garage, but I think a few pages back he said that we has some Mini owners who would let us use their house/garage to do this if we needed to, so I tend to think this is going to happen no matter what, I have sheduled the whole day off even though I am doing my Pulley/ECU at 8am, I want the rest of the day to play and take pictures and enjoy the company of the other MCS Owners.
Jeff Feel free to give us an update when you get a chance.
P.S. From what I read on the July 15 pulley party we need to have helmets and
pads avaliable ffor those of us that go out with randy in our mini's, it must be
a hold on hand hope you dont wet your pants ride.

Hey guys, I'm sorry I didn't realize people had posted questions here the last couple of days.
I have three offers for use of personal garages, which was the last part I wanted to confirm before saying it's a go. I'd honestly still like to do it in a commercial garage if I can negotiate that (less trouble for a homeowner, and less likely to...erm...raise the heckles of an intolerant spouse.)
The total list that I know of that are participating are:
James M (Atlanta Minis)
Darxar
YFoiler
mcooper
Wesport
LifeIsGood
FriedDuck (yours truly)
Itzaman
Edhill
Randy had indicated that Scott G. hadn't committed earlier in the thread--what's his MCO name? I have another maybe from Atlanta Minis who's trying to get through some warranty work in time for the weekend, and if so, he'll be joining us.
We're all set on tools EXCEPT for full size floor jacks (two of them.) I don't think that we'll have difficulty laying hands on them, but if you can lend one for the weekend please pipe up now. (I don't know the lift required, but the standard 15" craftsman jack won't cut it.)
I'm going to be travelling for the next two days & may be thin around here. If you need to get in touch w/me you can reach me at xxx-xxx-xxxx.
Get ready!!!

I have LOTS of tools. I just wasn't planning on getting there until Saturday, leaving Hilton Head early Saturday morning. If you can't get your hands on what you need, I could come up Friday night. I'm not sure what days this is happening, Friday/ Saturday or Saturday/Sunday. The latter I would guess. I wouldn't be able to get there (easily) if things get started on Friday.
One of my jacks has a 22+ inch lift. You can always put a jack on a board atop a couple of cinder blocks to get extra height.
Let me know.

You guys in Atlanta,
Just got back from the No. California pulley get together and Randy was using the following:
---Two good, full size floor jacks to raise and lower the engine (ya just gotta see this in person...) The pistons should be in good shape so that he has good control of the jacks. It looks more critical on the lowering back in part.
---A pair of jack stands for the car
---An air impact wrench for the major bolts on top and under the car
---Various and assorted wrenches, screwdrivers, torque stuff, and such
---He has some specialty tools like the pulley puller and a welded thing that goes on the tensioner.
---The ECU just takes a laptop
---I didn't see anything else major for the job
That was about it. He is awesome to watch do this. It seems to take so little time and he makes it look way easy. I would reccomend a commercial garage if you have the chance. There is a lot of moving of cars that goes on it seems. Having a Dyno was a big plus. We were able to run the cars two runs before and two after for 100 bucks. I don't know the dyno situation in Atlanta, but it was nice to have.
I asked him if he was going to Atlanta and he said that he was planning on it. Making it kind of a short trip to do the pulleys and get home. I found him to be an honest and stand-up guy. I know that part of him doing this is to build relationships with potential future customers and he has one in me. I hope that you guys have the same experiences that we had out here. The mods are VERY worth it and provide much enjoyment for every dollar spent.
Good luck, keep motoring!

Thanks for the update Jeff. the Dates are Friday 25th, and Sat 26th and Sunday 27th if needed. I am set for the 8am Friday morning slot so I can get Pulley and ECU, I think on an page or two back Randy set a schedule, and had some of us on the schedule.
I agree with Jeff on the commercial garage first, that would be the best. I dont
have any tools, but the few I use to do the intake and little things like that.
Being on the east cost is a benift for the ecu, I think we can do it same day or our window is bigger, timezone stuff. 10 people, If all goes well Friday morning with my pulley and new ecu flash, I will start buying everything, I mean everything from Randy from now on!
I played with making some holes in the back wall for my BMP to breath better, I
think I am going to put in some more, I am having fun taking my intake out and
putting it back in.
I think that Randy makes a call to everyone on the list to confirm and make sure
he has whats going to happen to each mini before he comes, does anyone know
if this is true?
I know all the Atlanta Pulley Party MCS are as excited as I am.

I'm seeing comments lately about needing to e-mail ECU data to Germany in order to do the ECU upgrade. I haven't seen these comments until recently. I'm going to be in Atlanta but wasn't planning to get there until Saturday. Does that preclude me from being able to do an ECU upgrade due to this need to e-mail my ECU data to Germany and that it will be a weekend day?
Could someone else who has done an ECU upgrade at one of these pulley parties verify the process?

Dam I was going to come and hang out with you guys during the pully party but just realized that the weekend of July 25th I will be in Nashville for the South East Division SCCA Solo 2 series event 3.... I can't miss it I have contingency money on the line... Hope it all works out !!!

got an email from Jeff, He has two places that have offered but still wanted to
see if he could get a commerical place if possible. We should next week be
getting all the final details set with Randy etc... so everyone hang on a bit longer
Jeff will have more detials soon.
Has the excitment hit you yet!

Back from Richmond (great city) and we're going to go with a private (not commercial) garage. It's an empty house and we'll have the run of the place and won't have to worry about working around anyone else's schedule.
It's a large 3-car garage and I'll be able to go ahead and get all of the tools over there ahead of time so that we can start without delay on Friday. The commercial thing left too many questions open (like they're not open Sunday and if our installs spilled over on to Sunday we'd be stuck.)
I'll copy & paste directions to y'all via PM right now and if you have any questions let me know. The garage is in Marietta on the North side. Traffic stinks but there are some beautiful twisty roads around there for..erm...testing.
I talked with Randy on Thursday just to confirm that we're all set and everything's okay from his end. (I don't know anything about e-mailing to Germany LifeIsGood--you'll have to check w/him on that one.)
If anyone's curious, my count is 10 confirmed and 3 that are on the fence.
Now the real question is--does anyone want to get together for dinner on Friday? Wings?
Talk to y'all soon and let me know if you have any questions.

Jason,
Sorry we're going to miss you that weekend. You can still take mine for a spin when you get back.
LifeIsGood,
I think we're okay for jacks but I'm going to confirm today or tomorrow. If any others are local and want to bring one as a back-up it wouldn't hurt. Based upon an earlier post it sounds like they better be in good working order!!
(Ever work on cars with a jack that's slowly leaking? Prolly not a good situation to be in if you're engine's on top of it
)

An unoccupied house?
Is there a way to do the upload/download of the ECU data to Germany?
Forgive me if I sound squeemish, but I'm driving in from S.W. Florida for this one.
I'm coming in the night before, staying over for an early Friday AM pulley and ECU... I hope all the ducks are in a row?.... fingers crossed.
I'll stay tuned here for any updates, directions, etc.
Thanks!

Marty,
I realized the same thing when reading about e-mailing to Germany. I'll make sure that we have provisions for e-mail. (There's a couple options including family close by with broadband.) There's also a Starbucks two blocks away with wireless broadband and I have a wireless laptop card Randy can use. I've done software demos on the road for my job so let's just say I've had to deal with it all
I'll confirm everything we'll need beforehand, but if you have any questions at all feel free to call me. I want *everything* set up before you guys arrive so that we're not wasting any time.

Two additional items,
I've already e-mailed or PM'd everyone with directions. If you haven't received yours please let me know.
I've sent Randy all of the phone numbers and e-mail addresses that I have. If you haven't spoken with him directly please call him to give him your contact information. I believe he wanted to speak with each of you so that he has your info and also what you're getting (pulley, ECU or both.)
TIA,
Jeff

3 more days
I wish today was friday!
btw just spoke with Randy, you can call him so he knows or has a list of all
you need pulley/ecu/intake etc.. the ecu should only take an hour or so
he said for the email, and all he needs is a phone line. He can use my cell
phone if thats all it takes. my ecu is 8am and I think my pulley is being done
at 11am. So those who are worred about the ecu being a over night thing,
its not just an hour or so, but I think it needs to be early. Anyway, call
so he has all your information, he is a great guy to talk with.
