Turbo only is too laggy... I'd rather have a 300 WHP car that starts making boost at 1500 RPM's than a 525 HP car that doesn't spool up till 4800 RPM's.

On the track we run circles around modded STI's and Evo's (Even in the rain), because while their turbo's are spooling, we're making full boost and powering out of the corner .

I make 11 lbs of boost at WOT from 2,000ish on. From there it only ramps up more. Peak boost is only about 14.5 on my car. I'll take my SC or a Rotrex any day over a single big turbo setup . Like I said, we run circles around all the crazy 450 HP Evo's . I can't imagine driving around with 75 HP until 5k, that'd drive me nuts.

we'll be doing a build in the next 12 months on a 2.5L car that will put down 700hp. No, it's not a MINI and no, it won't have lag. It will have anti-lag. Full Cosworth motor as well with 8500 redline.

Spoken from a true player of the game in a world ruled by big single turbo evo's and Supra's....

That's true but depend's on what your poison is... On the road racing coure and cornering, TC is great!!! But if your a freeway runner or a track guy, buy the time your thinkin' you got the jump with your SC, the GT45r Sti just made spool and jump 6 car's on you, than shifted to 4th, and you can't count the buses.... Single turbo equal's high hp, more efficiant... It's all in the user's pov.... Don't knock either... embrace!!!

Why would you be RACING at 2000 RPMs for... also.. a turbo only needs 6 lbs of boost to make what your car does at 11... with the gt2871... at 4400 rpms the turbo only is already at 14 lbs of boost (with stock head and boost on a lower seting) making 200 Ft lbs tq and 200 WHP... what's yer mini at at 4400 rpms?(140-150 whp?)... at its peak... on the car I speak of... was 23 lbs... 313 whp (with ported head was around 370 WHP and the boost comes on WAY sooner!)

as for you "driving circles around 450 HP evos"... driver is everything... no doubt the mini handles... but you cannot compare with someone driving whom you dont even know thier skill...

how ever... your 75hp untill 5k is a ridiculous statement.... the car is not flat till then... infact the SC mini isn't much different at those RPMs here's a dyno chart from the 231 RMW head mini thread...(even includes the basline for even more added fun!) 50% more power per lb of boost... and no.. it's really not laggy at all... the diff is when the power does come on... it goes up exponentially compared to the SC..

and yes the rotrex will do wonders... but we have no data on that yet...

Cosworth (in the US at least) stopped doing full built longblocks. Guess the money's not there anymore, though the one my buddy got was more than $20k.

tuls where abouts are you in the world mate?? here in the uk you can still get the wonderfull cossies! the big boys are pushing 800bhp on 2.0ltrs and well over 900 with a little bit of N2O!

i perconaly think a really quick mini would be a 2.0 conversion with a Rotex or turbo(and supporting mods obviouly).

thanks Chris.

well how about shifting the engine to the back of the car and building the first mid engined (new) MINI???

its been done with the old one (you can buy conversion kits to fit the new K20 unit or bike power).

Chris.

while I already figured out how I would do it... and how much it would be to do it... (quite resonable mind you) I think I would rather just have an M coupe, an Exige or something like that if I am really gunnah drop that kinda $ on a car...

lol... sorta... jsut re focusing time and $... furball was a huge kick in the finacial nuts... it accually cost us money... but we got no return on our investment...

when it comes to cars... when I step on the gas too hard I would love to be able to go around the corner sideways... I miss that allot.. even in my tahoe that is fun... LOL

I'd rather go pic up an M coupe and beat the hell outta it than do all this work and realize if anything ever happens my investment is lost... so never really be able to drive the car the way I want... damn... I think yer right... cause that's sensible... awww crap!
