Raising Idle to 1K RPM

Is there a way to raise the idle of my engine to about 1000 rpm?

I'm supposing that there will be emissions issues and perhaps computer issues but it should be able to be done.

I have a vibration at the 600 rpm idle that smooths out at 1000 rpm.

Thanks.

I had them raise my idle, car runs much better now. No codes, no issues at all, the car runs perfect, we bumped it up to 875 from 625. I may raise it up to 950. It's much easier to take off with the idle higher, the car is more willing to rev, and not as willing to stall if the RPM's dip down a bit.

I raised mine also about to 875. The car idles smoother and mostly when the AC is on. The take off is much smoother also

Can or will the dealer do this? Is there anyone in Michigan that can change the idle?

If not, I guess it's an excuse for a short mini drive to California.

Thanks,
Mark

I doubt it. I'm not sure the dealer even has the capability to do it. It's a fairly expensive computer that they bought that does quite a bit (Reflashes, tuning, tests, code reading, altering engine electronics, etc.)

The idle adaptation can be set by anyone with a factory scan tool especially the dealer. I believe the maximum set point is 950 rpms. This is not a big deal to do.

OK...so, HOW?!?!?

I have the scan tool from Minimania...all I can do with is check fault codes and reset the oil change mileage, at least I think thats all I can do with it.

Question is, how much would they charge to do this? I'd love to raise my idle to about 900rpm...

I have the AUTOLOGIC the GT1 is the outdated one it was going for 9000 when it came out hten ended in the 12000 range. $20 bucks is fair for just an idle adjust.

Thanks,

Hmm gonna have to call the dealer and see how much they'll charge me for this. Definitely something worth doing...

Jan - sorry I missed that post, let me know if you will perhaps have other quick jaunts in the future (Santa Barbara?), otherwise I will call for an appointment soon.

Great reason to enjoy the California drought and forest fires! Cough, cough.
