Hey guys, is there any concerns with the reduced air flow to the rad?

Scott, car looks nasty.

What about turbo lag? Usually with bigger intercoolers...

Astro S: The air flow still continues to the radiator, and the water temps are un affected by the change! Good question though!

NO LAG!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys!

I'm thinking that the new JCW tune kit and this Alta
intercooler could be the hot setup at the moment.
are we there yet? 200 whp

Carl

Good choices guys! "Howard" is anxious to get on our dyno with all of his pieces to get more runs for you guys, but we have just been slammed on all kinds of stuff around here. Another event this weekend for the local PDXMINI.org club. But I am trying to get those to you ASAP.

Also, 200WHP won't be an issue folks!

I have a question regarding your dyno test for the FMIC vs. Stock R56. The 20whp and 30 torque, was it achieved with the FMIC only? Or with other components? If other components, which ones?

Thank You

The upper grill should be more than sufficient to cool the rad in addition to the residual air that passes through the FMIC. However, Alta offers an air diverter http://www.altaminiperformance.com/p...r-Diverter-R56 that should help cooling even more.

Take a second look there guy... you can't use both the diverter and the fmic, unless I'm sorely mistaking(which is always possible).

um...true: Can't use both the diverter and the FMIC together. Excelletn point.

On the dyno results they are posted in the aforementioned thread. ALTA2 has published the mods, etc. there.

Let us know how we can help further fellas!

Alta:

Your dyno results in your website says big gains from 3 simple parts, which parts is it talking about?

Thanks

Any plans to come out with a black one? Don't really care for the way it looks behind the grill.

I'd recommend

Standard engine paints are too thick for radiator use because they can interfere with heat transfer and block air flow between the cooling fins. Also, standard paint tends to flake off radiator tanks. Radiator Black helps solve this problem. Durable Enamel formulation resists temperatures up to 250ºF, gas and chipping. One can covers 6 square feet (most radiators require 2 cans). Net wt. 12 oz.

byhsu: Turbo-Back Exhaust, Intake and FMIC. Thanks for asking!

SlowB00st: Check out our turbo kit for at least that! (not out yet, soon, blah, blah blah!)

ChrisMCS04: This core is large enough for more than 400WHP, and rated for even more. Also, less than 1/2 lb at 20 psi sustained across the core.

Regarding black: The powdercoat will work and may be available at sometime soon. The powder does hurt efficiency a bit. The rad paint above may be a better choice in the meantime.

Thanks again!

quoted WHP gain for turbo back =20WHP
quoted WHP gain for CAI =10WHP
quoted WHP gain for intercooler =20WHP

How can the total gain only be 20WHP
