It's my understanding that Alta came out with a revised (ie V2.0) exhaust for the R53. Does anybody have the exhaust and what are your impressions. How does it sound? How is the installation? What about fit and finish?

I am awaiting this as well. Before I buy one I am going to be patient for the single oval tip

 

A Alta rep. mentioned on this forum that the oval tip is going to be a few months before it comes to market. With the new R56 I don't think that the R53 is top priority for Alta. Just look at their website, it's all about the new stuff for the R56. The new exhaust (V2.0) for the R53 is out but you don't see it on their website.

 

I have the 2.0. Got it installed last month. The sound is great and initial visual quality was outstanding. Now I'm getting some discoloring (heat) on the left tip only. Seems to be a design thing. I'd wait for the single oval tip if seriously considering this system.

They changed the clamps to v-band and the tips have been imroved like the R56 exhaust, they are also offering an oval tip in a few months. I am not sure about anything elso though. Hope this helps.

 

Does it move around less than the old system with the clamps change? The old system moved around some and tended to burn the plastic a bit when the tips got to close to the edge of the rear. I was told mine wouldn't do that if i had it installed by Alta, which I did at AMVIV, but I am still seeing some of the same movement as others.

 

I'm not seeing any movement on mine, so maybe the 2.0 fixed that. I'm just hoping that Alta will warranty my tips and replace with the single oval. The difference in color is highly noticable.

 

I was told the oval tip is going to be available around Christmas, 2007
