Seal6: The bars are SILENT when installed properly (this includes greasing , and orientating the bar etc.) GPI is a GREAT installation facility and trust they will continue to do the job right. They have installed a lot of ALTA bars with no complaints. We always work with all clients to resolve any issues that they have, with any part (ours or not.) JCW bars will be available asap as well. Call me if you need one.

On the ECU upgrade we are completing those details right now with a leading ECU mfr. Once the ink is dry on the hopeful agreement we will make the announcement to the group. Please note NOTHING is etched in stone and we are looking at several options at this time.

Thank you!

Thanks for the info Adam!
Thus far I have been really pleased with the quality of parts Alta has to offer. And will be willing to give the Alta Rear Sway the opportunity to shine on my car

Do you have to remove the lower grille mesh to fit the bigger intercooler?

Nope. You might download the instructions on our website and check out the step by step on "Howard"!

Thank you!

Checked them out....doesn't look too bad......so how much hp and torque would I approx. gain if I combined the intercooler with my exhaust and intake?

Would a CA R56 car with the Installed Down Pipe and Cat-Back Exhaust pass the emissions test?

scott48: We will continue to post more dyno results. But ALTA2 has posted the complete results on the test mule with the pre-production FMIC. This core used in the production version is actually more efficient and we expect to post even better results. Stay tuned for more info.

byhsu: It would fail the visual if they looked hard enough at the EO#'s on the cats. It would pass the other tests. Hope that helps.

Thank you!

Good question!

EO#'s are exemption order #'s issued by CARB for certain aftermarket (and OEM) replacement parts that they deem acceptable.

hope that helps!

Any hp and tq numbers with the FMIC, TBE and Intake ,together? also i guess it would be a good idea to get the boost tubes too huh if i were to go with the FMIC.

I need more gauges!!!!

1 more question, since the R56 lower control arm is aluminum, are your guys' lower control arms any lighter?

minipete07: There is a thread here

It has those dyno charts and also I will be dynoing Howard for the first time very soon! ( The dyno is delivered and I believe up and running now in the building.) So I will give a post everything install dyno results very soon.

scott48: We all need more gauges! Sorry for the delay! But trust it will be worth it. I need to weigh the OEM control arms vs. ours to see what if any weight difference there is. Thanks for asking.

Chat soon folks!

Adam, I know is a matter of choice but, I am about to install the cat-back exhaust and I am wondering which should be the "correct" distance the exhaust tips should protrude back from the bumper on a cold system as when you are doing the installation. I know that the instructions say that Alta suggests to go back with the tips till the Alta name is visible, but in terms of measurement what does that accounts for, in case the name is not exactly engraved on the same spot every time ?? Are we talking about 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, one inch ??
Tks, mini07

mini07: Good question. The logos are pretty close from kit to kit, and I would make them just barely visible looking straight down when cold. The kit grows a but when hot so that should be perfect. Let me know how you like it once it is installed. Thanks for the biz nez!

Was reading the intercooler install instructions and it said you might need to trim a few different plastic pieces, so I was wondering how much trimming you guys actually had to do on the silver car(Howard?) that it was installed on.

Adam, Do you have any dealer / partners in the northeast that can install alta components? I am in Massachusetts, and your garage is too far to drive (although it would be a nice motoring experience)

scott48: So far on Howard the only trimmin I did was on the two nubs at the lower section of the A/C condensor, and just barely behind the grill section. Very simple and easy. When you are working with the bumper skin on and off the car, using some blue painters tape on the skin will prevent any scratches etc from working with it. Good luck!

rockridge: JSC Speed is a W/D in that area and they sell to many installation facilities. I trust they will have a recommendation. E-mail Chris@jscspeed.com He is a salesperson there as well as a fellow R56 owner. Hope that helps! Thanks for asking!

Adam,

Any recommended installers in the SF Bay Area, CA? I think I remember seeing a recommendation earlier in this thread or another but it was for someone closer to Sacramento which several hours drive away and not really practical.

Also, I saw that monster FMIC on your site and a question immediately came to mind. Does significantly diffusing/obstructing airflow intended for the radiator have any negative effect? It seems like the FMIC sits in front of the bottom 50% or so of the radiator.

Adam,

When the "re-flashes" come out, how will they effect the use of the sport button? Will the new maps be designed to only be used when the sport button is on? Or, will they be in effect all the time making the sport button useless?

FugitiveAI: There is dbTuned mentioned above out toward Sac. I also have a dealer in Oxnard and Fresno (are either of those close as my geographic knowledge of California is limited)

xray: WE are trying to incorporate as many improvements to the engine and body as possible with the ECU changes. I do not know if we can either enhance or make other changes to the sport button. More coming soon. (sorry for being aloof. We are looking at two different options for the car at this time.)

Thanks folks!

What amount of bolt on hp and torque do you guys think the R56 engine and all drivetrain components can take before needing to change internal engine components, tranny stuff, etc.?
