you can in many cases add the nbers together. But there may be other limitations. For example the CFM range of the turbo. It would be best to use the dyno plots made by ALTA2 for better comparison. Sorry for being short. This is from my iPhone

scott48: Depends on the area you live, how you drive etc. Most clients clean them every 5K miles. Hope that helps!

Do you have how much HP and TRQ your car is producing with the Alta Intake and Turbo Back Exhaust?

Thank You

Well, Alta got and average of 22whp and 20ft-lb of torque from turbo back, and they said adding the intake will increase peak hp by a couple(not 10 when it's by itself) and it increases mid-range torque(helps to get rid of the dip)and top end torque; so with both, I'd say it added 25whp and 25ft-lb torque, oh and made the throttle WAY more responsive. But it makes it sound soooo awesome as well ...great combo...but I have not had my car dynoed yet, I will have it done at dbtuned at some point, probably after ecu.

Thanks for the information. I keep hearing that the wheel HP and Trq. of the '07 MCS is actually the same or higher than the actual crank HP and Trq. that MINIUSA has published, is that true?

The hp and torque #'s for the '07 MCS on MINIUSA are at the wheel #'s, cause when everyone goes to dyno their car, the wheel #'s match what MINI claims to be at the crank.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong.... nor am I trying to be a butt, but if you pick up top end tq(more than just a couple) you will get a larger gain on your hp at the same rpm relative you gaining the same amount of tq in the mid range for example. TQxRPM/5250=HP
Also as far as engine HP ratings, all dynos are different, such as a dynodynamics dyno is normally a heart breaker for people b/c it reads conservative relatively speeking in relation to many other dynomameters. If anything, it is "underrated" which I won't disagree with. Car manufacturers don't claim wheel hp, next thing you know you have a reinactment of the 99 Cobra or RX8 episodes involving their hp ratings if things fell evenly slightly short.

I will be dynoning the Alta TBE next week, I did a stock dyno yesterday so you will get these real world numbers shortly.

The butt dyno says the gains are BIG and the sound is great, coming from an Evo that was way too loud.

Scott48:

Is the turbo back exhaust legal, meaning I will be able to pass a smog check with no problems?

Thanks

Almost ready to buy your cat-back system for my R56-S. Only concern is possible heat issue regarding clearance between that huge, hot, 6"diameter resonator and the factory heat shield or underbody. Throw me some light on this.

Good question, I'm wondering that too...I mean, it still has two cats on it...

byhsu: The answer is it is NOT legal in CA. CA requires CARB exemptions on aftermarket intakes, and downpipes. However, it isn't very visible so you may be ok (the DP that is. Carb doesn't have any juristiction past the last cat.)

mini07: Thanks for asking. The resonator helps insulate the heat away from the body, plus the factory heat shielding is in the way. So no concerns! Let us know how we can help in anyway further!

Thanks guys!

Hey Adam, is there an issue with your guys' intake in CA....why do they need CARB stuff on an intake? Just curious....any ecu update??? Oh, and how much of an effect will adding your guys' sway bar endlinks to the rear bar affect handling??? Thanks as usual!!!

What would be helpful is if you report the maximum engine horsepower with the ALTA TBE. JCW claims 192 engine HP for their system, Millet claims 202 HP! A 202 HP engine mini sounds really good....better than a 192 HP mini. So Candyman (or anyone)...is ALTA higher than 202hp? ALTA claims + 22 whp for TBE...what does that mean? Sounds like it will be somewhere near the JCW system. Is it better (read higher engine hp) than Millet? I thought manufacturers are supposed to report in engine HP?

Hi Adam,
Very well impressed by ALTA2's R&D and the way you are keepin us R56-S owners well informed about what you are doing and clarified about the technicalities involved. You mention on your 3-30-07 post that the cat-back exhaust for the R56-S is too silent and that the muffler used was going to be revised to make it a little louder specifically on the cat-back system. Was it revised, if I order one now, will I get a nice powerfull sound level or just an OEM tone as the one I got with the car from the factory ?? Are there going to be two versions as explained on the post, one louder than the other ??
Tks, mini07

Adam,
The JCW Stage I is matched to the VIN, and the ECU has to be reflashed before install. It appears that the VIN thing is some sort of copy protection. Do you have to get around it?

Will the average person be able to install/flash your product?

Also the Mini seems to keep track of a lot of data. Would it know if the mapping was changed?
