Drivetrain Gintani Tuned...

Did I mention they do a lot of in-house work??
What work is getting done in house??? I also understand that they don't tune themselves. They have a partnership with another company down the road who does there dyno tunes. I here that this outside guy can emulate the ECU but to date no one has shown any results. I look forward to yours.
Good luck,
Longboard

He can't tell you that you might be trying to steal their idea jesus guy ....lol
The machine shop is Top Notch no doubt! Thanks for the post.
On a side note, my dad used to live in RSM...Too bad he still didn't I would love to take a vacation out there and check out your sweet ride
Are you planning on hitting the dragon next year?

I don't want to speak for them because I'm just a happy consumer and nothing more...But from what I understand they do have an exclusive partner-ship...so yea it is a Gintani tune, He is contracted by Gintani to do work to their specs...Like I said I could be wrong, but this is the way I understand it!
Sure...The motor is being built in-house. The components as of now are being built to Gintani's specs...which we all know each vendor has different specs for performance parts. They are in the process on moving to a larger shop. With the larger shop they can have their CNC machines installed and manufacture their own parts.

Are you planning on hitting the dragon next year? Are you flying out here and driving it home or trucking it back? RSM is very nice but today feels like Florida

Thanks! I am very excited! I was thinking about this the other day...too bad I had to send my mini out there the hottest month out of the year
Oh well, I broke my leg pretty serious in a skydiving accident, so I can't drive my mini yet anyway LOL
Now I'm 40 with four kids and just surf. Hence the name Longboard. I have 18 surfboards at home. Thank god I have a great wife.

I thought they just moved into a new shop? How big is the tank for the water? Danny at MiniCorsa uses a 2 gallon for his Gintani intercooler.

To be honest I don't know how big the tank is...I'll have to ask next time I call.
I thought about flying out there and driving back...I have 21 vaca days I have to use b/f oct...but I did that trip once...
I was 19 and drove from sany eggo to north east PA in an old comaro, lost a cylinder in mohave destert, a/c went out, and my driver window was stuck half way down and passenger window was stuck up (middle of july)...Got lost in alabama b/c the highway was shut down...LOL...I'm not sure I want to re-peat that trip!Yea FL is HOT right now...I was going to head down to key west for a couple weeks but decided to stay here so I can to therapy..

Skydiving!!!! Very cool
. I always wanted to do that. When you grow up here like I did you try every extreme sport possible. Skydiving was on the list but I never did it.

Do you jump with an instructor (strapped together) the first time? I've watched them jump at the lake many times. I used to go up and watch the hang gliders take off from the mountain above the lake. Thats crazy. The wind comes up the face of the mountain sooo fast that they have three guys holding the kite down. The rider straps in laying on the ground then tells them to let go then the kite just goes strait up at an amazing speed.
It is scary as hell to watch.

Presently, there are two different heat exchangers for the coolant coming from the integrated intercooler-intake manifold. One is for the "standard" setup, and the coolant dynamic volume (reservoir, hoses, heat exchanger) is about 1.5 gal. This is the one that has been running on my car for about 2 years, and I believe it will be the unit on Johan's car. The other setup is more for racing, and has a larger heat exchanger. Space limitations necessitate elimination of the a/c. The dynamic volume of the "race" version is about 2 gal. This is the system that Danny D. from MiniCorsa is running on his car.
It is my understanding that the person who has been doing the emulation tuning is now an active member of the Gintani operation. He will be doing all of the custom tuning for the various marques that Gintani services. In addition to their custom in-house tuning, I know that Gintani also plans to make available ECU flashes that they have developed for various configurations of Mini modifications. You should be able to get more details by giving Gintani a call.
Hope this helps...

As for tuning, I know they have solutions for the R-56 as well. That would be cool to see what kind or power they could get out of one of those!
Well I finally pulled the trigger on getting the Gintani after-cooler with integrated intake manifold.

This thing really looks trick! After reading all the intercooling threads and water injection, I decided to go this direction. I like the idea of getting rid of the intake horns. It's a direct route from the supercharger to the cylinder head. Also after talking to Randy Webb about the system I just had to get one!
While the car is there it's also being fitted with a custom Gintani Head, header and 3" exhuast.
I didn't realize how much in-house work they do there. They have a bunch of after-cooler kits ready for install.
When everything is done they're also going to give me a custom dyno tune. Gintani has live software to emulate the ECU
I can't wait until everything is done and get to take her out on the track and burn it up!
And yea Paul, If you find me a drag strip close to VA Beach I'll make a pass to get some times for you
FYI, this car is being set-up for the road racing though not the quater mile.
I'll have more pics to follow as things get wrapped up!

looking forward to hearing all about it.
Thanks! They were nice enough to powdercoat mine black to match the rest of my parts...I think they offer different colors as well, besides the red...but don't quote me on that one

You'll have to go though a short class then get jocked up to jump. It's about a 20 minute plane ride up to 13,000ft, 60 seconds of free fall time and about a 5-6 minute canopy ride. It's cool at Elsinore too, the Ortega's are about 3000ft above the landing area, for me, when I was pulling at 2500, it is below the mountain range...Pretty cool! You should try it somtime, definitly make sure you get a video to remember it!

Good luck with your newly modified Mini. Don't forget the radar detector ---
So what's left Johan? Did they tune it yet?
