Post JCW CAI - Check Engine lights up

I installed a JCW CAI in my wife's '06 Cooper S Convertible the other day. It works fine and she is very happy with the performance boost.

Now, however, her check engine light comes on and I get a code of P0030 - HO2S Heater Control Circuit. Since I had to splice into a wire to do the install according to instructions does anyone know if that wire (white/red from pin 113) is specific to the error code or is the issue unrelated?

Thanks

I believe that's something to do with the oxygen sensor. Since you have an 06 why not take it to the dealer for a bit of warranty repair.

That's the code for the heater in the first O2 sensor (in the header before the cats). If you unlatched the ECU connectors or installed the pin incorrectly, something may not have seated completely.

+1!
Those plugs for the ECU can be a real pain in the you know what if not done correctly. It took me 10 minutes of figuring it out how it works and I am usually pretty good at figuring out how things come apart and go back together.

Thanks much. The flap works so I know the pin to the fuse block and the vacuum tubes are seated OK but not sure about the ECU. I'll pull it back out, make sure the pins on it aren't damaged, reseat it, and hope it resolves. If not then off to the dealer we go.

I'd bet it just coincidence that the engine light came on just after the JCW CAI install. By all means check the ECU plugs, but my money says it's unrelated.

Hehe... Yeah, it's funny how something always happens after you have done manual work on anything...

Funny yes, but also frustrating as all get out. Hope the dealer fixes you up ASAP!

Well I rechecked all the connections and didn't see any issues so I took it in to the dealer who found the loose wire in the fuse area I missed. $135 lesson in "how to be thorough"...
