you guys need to get an absolute grip . why on earth would you buy a car with a cool sunroof option just to delete it in the name of performance? settle down these things'll never be cobra 427's . keep the sun roof . unless of course you can make the c/f one functional then disregard the aforementioned .

Make up your mind.
Lose the weight all of it or don't. Going half way is just poserness.

Semi kidding but seriously for that kind of investment going part way makes little sense.

Dude, $$$ aside, I think it'd be pretty cool to loose the weight but STILL be able to open it up whenever you want

Granted but I wasn't thinking money didn't matter.
If money didn't matter I'd have a full race prepped MINI and a daily driver
For a lot less you could put lexan in there and have transparency too.

If my car waas anywhere near as nice and clean as yours Sid I'd be afraid to sweat anywhere near it. The salt air would ruin the finish

Having fulfilled my role as devil's advocate I can now to admit to it being pretty cool.
Or maybe just lexan with CF print vinyl on it

Nah dude, it'd have to be (for me) a sheet of the silver weave cf to match the rest of the roof

Whow! I leave the room five minutes and look what hapens I got the sunroof as part of the pakage of other goodys I wanted, Never wanted a sun roof , I leave in south Florida, too hot for sun roofs and open roof waiste perfectly conditioned air . Commute:AC on, windows up. Track:AC off, windows down. So my project is to replace the whole 40+ lbs of glass and steel and wires and motor etc, with a couple lbs of carbon/foam sandwich, paint it white like my roof (stealthy and cool) and be done with it!
Now the mold could.... any way, wasn't this thread about cooling the IM

carbonized, I see in your pic gallery a hot air extractor for the cowl vents. Does it work, and did you make that yourself or buy them somewhere?

Ahh, but it does fit the tread...

Follow me here...

With a CF roof insert the car is now lighter. Lighter car needs less throttle input to reach the same acceleration rate. Now the SC doesn't have to spin as much lowering the pressure and therefore the heat that gets passed to the IM.

AND....

Lower cabin temps mean less AC, creating less compressor use, meaning lower underhood temps.

In conclusion, the thread was not taken off topic by the mention of the CF sunroof insert.

Here's a teaser...

I've been looking and you can do this with standard config ICs as well. Just takes more stuff to do.

That's not bad, in a roundabout way, actually makes sense.

Like maybe closing up the gap between the front of the IC where it sits above the manifold?

I made the hot air extractor myself, it works like mad at idle and low speed hot air rushes out , hard to hold you hand over the grill, at speed I dont realy know! I never had the equipment to mesure acurate data (air flow and temp) but I remember someone mentioning on this board that after opening the cowl he could see his windshield misting when spaying his IC so with the ducting and the gurney I figured I didn' t go in the wrong direction . To be honnest I only care about heat soak, EI: stop/go, trafic lights, idling, stop at the store and or pub etc and for these situations the Hot air extractor works perfect. Now is it the end all and be all of our heat management issues? Of course not, But as part of a system including CAI, IC ducting, aerogel blankets, louvers, and AIR INTAKE MANIFOLD HEAT MANAGEMENT it can take a good roll into it
