GKP, sorry for the late reply. Been fully retired amd traveling so not been on the forum.

Took a hard hit at LRP into the tire barriers at 50 mph. My fault.

Just got the car back on Friday. Looks like I will be moving soon, so the track Mini has to be turned back into a street puppy. Any one wanting to buy some good Mini parts?

Shhhhhh, keep it on the down low, I don't want word getting out.

LSD is great.... gives a few flashbacks but..... ohhhh, uh, yea, the LSD in the car... works great, works better as a package with the OS clutch.

If you ever see my track MINI with snow tires on, you'll know I've totally lost it.

This kinda sounds like no more track days for you

LRP was not kind to Minis that weekend

Well.....I banged the MINI up somewhat last Saturday on the way to NJMP. Hydoplaned off I-295 and banged into a Jersey barrier as well as t-boned one of those orange highway construction barrels. Steering is f'up and some minor body damage. Made it 150 miles back in 3rd/4th gear back thru the damn storm I made it thru.

Have not been able to inspect car yet. Without power since saturdat night...

Sorry to hear that, S-Driver. I am beginning to think there is some bad karma in this group. In the last few months, three accidents and a blown engine (mine). May next season bring better luck to all. I don't know what your current garage-space situation is, but if you need a place to work on a cold day, I have plenty of room. In a week or two, I hope to add some kind of heater.

BTW, I'm still without power, too.

Gosh, not good news. Sorry to hear about the incident. Glad that you are OK.

We all need some ritualized cleansing or something.

Yup, my wife wants to use the car as a run around pup in the islands so I have to make it into a lux cruiser. I was chosen for ease to find parking and gas consumption. She moved up the moving dates so I do not have a chance to use the car for a few track days early next season.

Guess I can still rent from Mark G at the track if I had the itch.

If you get the itch, ping me. You can drive the MINI (behave yourself and I might let you install the AP tune ) and I'll drive the RX7 I have been working on this year.

Oahu. Honolulu.

Thank for the offer. Might have to take you up in it when the itch gets really bad.

This has been one bad year for us. S-Driver, sorry to hear about your problem. You did say, though, that you thought the most dangerous part of a track day was the drive there and back.

That was a nasty storm. I was lucky and didn't get hit hard but I still feel for Ya'all having been without power several times for a few days at a time. Once with the temps down to about 10 deg.

GK - what, did I miss something? Blown engine? Details?

Hurray - power is back! 3 1/2 days, longest I've ever been without power.

Thanks for the thoughts guys - I'll keep you informed. GKP - should be good for garage needs but I will keep you in mind. Hope your power comes back soon.

Shaddap.... I’m going to Roebling Friday. I don’t need any bad karma. (of course, I guess I used up my bad karma last year...lol)

Oh, you'll do fine. After all, we all did fine our first day out this season. Why should you be any different?

Eyes up, stay in the power band, have a great day and enjoy

My timing belt tensioner (in the dealer's words) "stuck open" and the timing belt "backed out" causing bent valves and other destruction. I was two weeks out of warranty. MINI picked up the parts, but I was on the hook for almost $3k in labor. I wrote to MINI USA to appeal, but it appears they don't reply to such letters.

Didn't you have one of the chassis brace products? I might be interested in that. And let me know if you're selling the 50 pounds of sound-deadening material you have stuffed in the back.

S-Driver said it well....that does blow...
I have seen some posts about this and the vaccum pump somehow going and distroying the engine also...
BMW didn't do as well on this engine as they might have, it seems.
Hope you continue to push on this. Maybe there is something on NAM that might help.

Glad your car is going again.
