How much track time do you get at PDA/NASA for the April 2 LRP HPDE? What run groups are you guys running in?

Cv problems seem to be rare according to most people (racers) and track maniacs I have talked to. Not sure it is something that most people should get yet.

I found some race CVs for the Mini and they run about $850 per pair. I will try stock mini one more time and if that fails like the other ones, then I would have to do with the race ones.

Not sure as their schedule isn't available but I'm assuming 4 normal length time run groups. Their are no races by NASA guy's, just HPDE.

I and Garylimey are signed up for HPDE4. What say you Veggivet?

April 2nd might be a little early...I might wait and see and pay the extra $25 if the forecast is good and they're not sold out. No fun running when it's too cold for the tires to warm up properly, not to mention fingers and toes. Friday, June 24th is a go.

got e-mail from PDA

PDA Participants:

Recently you were sent an new email newsletter from NASA NorthEast. As a followup in case you did not open it or receive it, please be aware of the following items.

Registration for track events will now be done thru the NASA NE website. This change has been done to streamline website management and registration processing. This in no way affects track events, events will still be run in the same manner as before. However, you must have a current yearly NASA membership to use the registration process.

Registration is open for the first three events of 2011 and you can visit www.nasane.com to register for an event. We are offering a $25 per day pre-season discount on these three events. The posted prices already reflect the discounted prices. This special will be in effect until FEB 10th ONLY

The newsletter contains an "unsubscribe" option so if you no longer wish to receive info from us you can be removed from our list.

Thank you for your previous participation and we hope to see you in 2011.

I didn't get that email but I did register thru the NASA website - and just received my NASA membership packet in the mail yesterday.

Also as an FYI...

C.A.R.T. is apparently running two events at Limerock this year according to the LRP track schedule - June 23rd and September 22nd. Should be cheaper than running with SCDA and possibly not as busy.

Well, right now I am thinking more about skiing in Utah
I am also kind-of at the mercy of Helix and their group buy for the the FMIC. So that will determine when I do the brake ducts, IC and turbo tubing I bought. But I also have brakes and shocks I will want to do. So maybe sometime in April? Late April?

Darn, blew out one of my all season RFT today hitting a small pothole. 5 sets of tires/4 sets of rims and nothing I can use that fits the car and winter!

I am thinking of getting rid of the RFT and getting something better. But it still has 7/32 left.

I wish I could help you out but all I've got are high performance summer tires and the R-comps.

No problem. Thanks.

Just ordered my eighth set of tires or rims / suspension / brake pads etc from Alex @ tirerack. He might know me a little by now.

Funny, but r-comps and extreme perf dry tires is all I have as well. I am buying a used set of heavy anchors aka crown spokes so I have another set of rims that can fit those bbks.

PS: Waiting for my new suspension to come as well. AST 5100s with Voshlag front camber plates and 450 in/lb (8K) hyperco springs F and R.

One more shot at fixing some of the issues. Otherwise that Cayman S racer would mean another year of slogging at work.

Maybe you can help with a transmission oil change too.

Does anyone know about doing a Sea Foam treatment?

Nothing extra here either. But I can tell you that my 16" wheels with the Bridgestone G019 All Seasons have performed really well this year. Around here I will not run any thing larger than the 16s in the winter because of the pot holes. I hit something in Troy so hard it popped my door open, but the rim and tire were still good

I have some Redline MTL and D4 ATF for the transmission if you need it. I think D4 is better for people like us who have to go through winter with the car. I also have the pump to fill the transmission as well. I am also interested in changing the transmission fluid.

I have not done a seafoam but have the Seafoam spray we can use. I am thinking about a catch can but there is no room in my engine bay.

I can only put on very specific 17" rims because of my TCE plus 3 BBK.

Just got this in an Email from Patroons. What do you think of the WGI date? 11.5 hrs of track time. And the Aug 19th at LRP looks really good. Anyone know what the Mt. Tremblant thing is

Plus the Bogie
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here are the Patroon BMWCCA dates for 2011. ( All Dates need to be verified and are subject to change)
Saturday April 23rd –Lime Rock Park. We will be using the rotating 1 hour blocks for track time, so 2 student run groups and 1 instructor group
May 6th –Our Friends in NY Chapter head to NJMP –many of us will be there
June 13th – The Longest Day at Watkins Glen! AKA the 12 hours of the Glen.
What am I talking about? Well we were contracted for the 13th and 14th at the Glen. But Nascar needed the Tuesday for testing (Nascar owns ISC or vice versa) –So –who is left out? WGI has been great about trying to make something work for us—so Track opens at 8:00 AM and Closes at 8:30 PM ---11.5 hours of track time! We run until lunch –where other club members can take touring laps ( low speed) and after that get a ride with instructors. Then we run until 5:00—1/2 hour break and run 5:30-8:30 –yee Ha! Sunday we will have something going on –probably involving wine /beer and food –touring the country side etc. –Expect an on site BBQ or something on Monday!
July 15-17th –Back to Bogie! –Calabogie with the Ottawa BMW Car Club and BMWCCA club racing! What a fantastic track.
In August –Lime Rock for 2 DAYS! Friday the 19th we have the track to ourselves –All student groups will run and probably 2 instructor groups –back to the old days! Saturday the 20th, we will run in the morning for Signed off students and instructors. ( format still TBD-maybe the alternate uphill on Saturday?)
Also in August we run back to Canada with the Boston Chapter for their event at Mt Tremblant on the 27th and 28th. ( I think they will have Club racing as well)
In Sept ---Back to Watkins Glen with the Boston Chapter for a mid week event on the 21st and 22nd ( and GVC should be there that weekend)
At this point we do not have an October Date scheduled –but something may pop up. You never know.
I am up for wgi with 11.5 hours, perhaps 2.5 hours for each run group.
Mt Tremblant is another track near Montreal. It is owned by one of those haute couture clothing designer (I forgot his name) and he liked track so much he built his own. Now he rents it out to car clubs. I have not been there but it is supposed to be nice. With the cdn $ being parity with the US $, I think I will only be able to do Calabogie this year.
Looks like scda both wgi two days events and one njmp two day event for me. That is all I have planned for now.
FWIW, I wasn't very impressed with how DJ ran the event at Monticello last fall. There really was very little in the way of 'organization'. It seemed like they were flying by the seat of their pants.
Anybody going to WGI with trackmasters? They have a weekend in late April...
It is fortunate I just bought some all seasons for just this event...
I have been to wgi a few times and have seen snow.
Not sure I understand - ATF - Automatic transmission fluid? Redline doesn't list a MTL for the Mini for the one 6 speed. For the other 6 speed they list MTL- 70w80 GL-4. How do you know what to use if Mini doesn't list anything?
I have spoken to them many times. And have used their ATF or their MTL in the manual transmission for a number of BMWs.
