Fastest non-nitrous or twincharged MINI

i talked to fireballtim and the crew on the day that they ran that 11.2 at palmdale, and i specifically asked about the vehicle weight, because it's very important in drag racing... they never claimed that the car weighed 1700 lbs, i think that it was indeed more like 2100+ lbs(without the driver??).
i shoot drag racing video, and i got some footage of that mini... not the 11.2 pass, but on a slower 11.5, i think that he lifted before the end... sorry if this has already been posted, choose the clip under the video window, it's about 2/3 of the way into the clip:

very true! Boosted engines do not loose as much power as naturally aspirated cars do at altitude.
Thats why i say... your car ran what it ran... and thats that... no corrections... The only one i could understand are slight excuses for wheather conditions... a 60 degree day vs 110 degrees... sea level vs drag racing in Denver.... you know big differences

ohh well its all in good fun!
Spillman... you are more than welcome to come out to speedworld in AZ! It would be fun to run another quick car...
But please don't doubt someones abilities because you lack the ability... You'll get their... I have no doubt...it just takes a little more practice for some. Seriously keep it up. you will get their!

What does having a SC or not justify any power gains if your at sea level or 1700ft above. Air is air no matter what engine setup you have. The higher up you are, the more thinner the air gets which is bad because denser air makes HP which is at sea level. Thats my opinion.
the differnce is that you are compressing the air even more so with a turbo or a supercharger so the "thin" air doesn't affect the power that the motor is producing as much as it affects a normally aspirated car.

It depends on the boost level. The spec to look at is critical altitude, that is the altitude that the supercharder can no longer add manifold pressure to the engine.
On Superchargers its the size and or type of the charger but more importantly the pulley diameters that determine boost....duh
There is a loss and the amount depends on design. Some world war 2 engines used compound turbo supperchargers that were adjustable manually to increase boost at higher altitudes because a super or turbo boosts pressure generally by so many PSI over ambient pressure and as ambient pressure drops so does the absolute manifold pressure even if boost stay constant (which it usually drops and it has to increase with altitude to maintain sealevel power) The adjustable turbo super chargers allowed them to select a higher boost level as air got thinner so they could still get sealevel absolute manifold pressure at 30,000 feet.
Like i know this is kinda out of the blue and i am new to this mini scene, but a 13.6 on street tires is good? Like im not trying to flame or anything but is that not achieved often or something? And do you have to have alot done to get that?
13.6 was good... the 13.2 that i ran was awesome!
And yes in fact these are GREAT times... they are the FASTEST NON NITROUS NON-TWINCHARGED MINI times... in otherwords just utilizing the factory supercharger... 13.2 on street tires at 105.5 is friggin fast... i was beating many of the vettes... many of the camaros... and most of the SRT4's that were out (there were 8 or 10 of them) their were only two that could beat the little mini... they had the mopar stage 3 kits and slicks... the were running 11.20s!
But yes... 13.2 in a 1.6l car with 225's on it is pretty damn quick... keep in mind this car is totally streetable... only weight reduction was removal of BACK seat... thats it! still had ac... and stereo equipment and all interior pannels... etc... So far no one has really come close to 13.2 without nitrous and without a turbo...

i believe that the fireball tim car had a turbocharger blowing into the supercharger... someone please correct me if i'm wrong about that... they really hadn't done much to the engine, either, maybe just swapped the pistons... still had the factory cam??
if you were to remove the supercharger, and do some tweaking on that motor, i think that it would get into the 10's.

yeah... braking into the 12's on street tires without nitrous or a turbo... or a fully striped car is going to be VERY difficult... I think its possible to eek out a 12.90 but that would be with the perfect launch... the perfect prepped track... wait we never ran on a preped track... hmm... that would have been nice.. and the weather conditions would have to be just right in order to crack off that pass... of course... you take some weight out... you switch to a proper drag radial... or even a slick... maybe put a lightend flywheel and clutch in... its completly doable...

The the only thing we changed on the motor was the pistons...the motor had 30k on it as a TC car...it was not some specialy super duber designed motor...stock head...stock cam...stock block...stock rods...stock crank.....

now i support FTR and all... but you guys have got to recognize how difficult it is to knock a FULL second off of a cars 1/4 time... once you are down into the 10's it becomes very difficult to even make a tenth disappear...
More power to them and i hope they do it... i just hope that many of you realize that it takes A TON of time, effort, and money to go from a 10.xx to a 9.xx
also the car hasn't run an 10 second pass yet... im sure it has it in it... but it still has yet to make that pass... it has only made a 11.xx which is moving and i don't discredit them one bit...
now don't think i have hard feelings whether or not they run 10's 9's or even 8's... I just want you guys to understand that one second is a LONG ROAD... they can defiently do it... but NOT overnight...

I totally understand how hard it is to gain 1/10th after certain speeds.....From my understanding...they havent even turned up the boost nor hit the bottle......With what i hear in the new setup, 9's are coming i think.....Money isnt an issue as long as Mini NA stays with the program which i see not being a problem.
ohh... sometimes all the money in the world doesn't help... but i understand exactly what you are saying... i have no doubt that they will be able to do it... i just hope people don't think that this is definetly going to happen overnight... or even over 1 month... it could take quite a long time!... or not... they could get the miracle number on the first pass... but its highly unlikely...
No doubt.....Guess we'll have to wait and see how good Tuls and the gang really are.....Doesnt take much to smack together a car like this one with some big slicks to pull an 11 since most peoples daily drivers on here are hitting low 13's.
Sh*t....if i had MINIUSA in my pocket to build a car.....You would of saw single digits the first season out.....lol
Im just messing with you Tuls.

I ran my friends vr6 SC golf not to long ago and kept with him until the top when i fell back on his quarter....he went mid 13's last year and this was before i redone my software,intake,tb....ill be just happy to hit a 13 something.....bottle is goin in i think soon.
i will be very very impressed if you hit a 12.xx with that setup that you have listed in your signature on street tires. THumbs up to you if you pull that off... I think that is great if you get that done on streets!
Slicks i dont think would be a big problem... but streets... that would be awesome!
