MAJOR DETAIL JOB!!

I don't know if this is a repost or not, but this has got to be the most intense Detail job I have ever seen:

That is ridiculous.

However, the car is awesome. It is going to make a nice 2009 Saturn Astra Red Line here in the States...

It seems a little excessive for a BRAND NEW car. I mean I get it...but yikes.

What Paul does, is nothing different than any of the other high quality detailers like myself does. He just charges a heck of a lot more. This is the same guy that made headlines for being the "worlds best detailer". His marketing strategy has paid off. His work is always being linked on all the forums.

As far as using the Paint Thickness gauge and entering the data point into a computer to measure the optical clarity--its a bunch of baloney. But hey, it helps justify his price. Just like the hand application of the wax.

I don't know about this guy, but I have observed that in every profession and every product, the ones that do the huge advertising and marketing are usually proclaimed by the masses as the best.... and as we all know, that 'ain't' necessarily so.

Royale is way overpriced. Don't get me wrong, I would love a tub of it, but seriously.

And I think some Epic on that car would make it look a whole lot better.

Well, it takes talent to sell the same thing for a higher price. So I think he's doing a great job.

Talent?? Not sure about that. Good connections, the right market, and savvy business skills, for sure. Again another point that Ken and disagree on.

business is all about that octaneguy. you have to know the right
people, the right customer who are willing to pay the premium to
for the same or similar service at the time they ask.

if you don't agree, then might as well practice on that end as well
so that you can get more money per the work you do.

well, that's enough freebies for ya today.

Well my point is that I know a lot of very lucky businessmen that have no talent or even skills at what they claim to do, yet they are able to get funding and convince those with even less knowledge to invest in them.

Look at all the Dot Comers who were able to get tons of VC money without even having solid business plans on how to make money?? From personal experience, when it comes to business, being good at what you do is often more of a hinderance to trying to make real money at it--those that know even less tend to be more successful!

That's why I need a business manager, lol. Or maybe an agent.

Let me guess, the harder they work, the luckier they get, right?

As far as the detail goes, I like to think I'm **** about my car, but that made me laugh out loud. Once I started taking my car to the track my propensity to detail it as much as possibly greatly declined.

Haha, well sort of. Or the more opportunities that might be presented when you work hard? I dunno where this is going.

I think I've been pretty lucky in my life, I work hard, but I'm no where near having the financial rewards I'd like to be. But atleast I'm having fun doing it. But it's always been a pet peeve of mine seeing people who are good at talking the talk can succeed at winning bids and contracts, while those that are more qualified just struggle. I'm not complaining either.

I mean, I'm able to charge 3 times of what I used to charge when I first got started detailing cars--to actually now be on par closer to the value of my work to the majority of my clients, though to quite a few people, I'm still undercharging by almost 50%. I'm still trying to find out how to get to that next level. I think my new shop is a part of that strategy.

I still charge MINI owners what I charged when I first started detailing--and will keep that for the foreseeable future--well I did go up by $50 this year, but I don't think $250 is unreasonable for what you get.
