Metal polish and paint clay?

For almost every type of detailing product, I've found one or two brands that seem to work much better for me than any of the others. Everything, that is, except for metal polishes and paint-cleaning clays.

All of the metal polishes I've used seem about the same as far as ease-of-us and final results. As for clay, the various brands seem to either shred too easily and leave hard-to-remove marks if I accidentally hit a body seam or the edge of my clearbra, or they're so hard that they feel like I'm kneading a block of wood.

So, has anyone here used a metal polish or paint clay that they feel really stands head-and-shoulders above the rest?

metal polish = Wenol

clay = prima clay.

prima clay is easy to kneed, will not melt like Griot's mud and also
sticks well to your finger unlike Mothers so it does not fly out of your
hands ending up with many profanity.

i prima clay'ed my weekend car the other day and NOT ONCE did i
feel like i had to be careful not to loose grip of it. it's great stuff.
and the paint cleaned up very well.

I have to say, the Prima clay is a little stiffer than I like, but it's a good trade-off in that it doesn't melt or stick to my fingers or go flying when I use it.

This is one of those instances where I couldn't disagree more with Ken. I bought like 12 bars of Prima clay and hate it with a passion. LOL. Ok, well I gave some to mini_dreams to play with yesterday when he visited me as I worked, and I let him compare it to my Meguiar's Professional Mild (Blue) clay, and night and difference in terms of usability and ease of kneading. I wanted to see if it was just me, or if indeed there was some truth to this feeling I had.

Prima clay is very hard, which is strange---as the clays are all made by the same manufacturer and it shouldn't be so different, but for whatever the reason, the clays I've got are very hard to knead and work with. They clay fine, but they are too stiff for my taste.

Octaneguy- I use Griots mud and that was waaaaay soft and I thought Mothers was too hard, so prima clay came inperfect for me.

Perhaps you can sell me some of that other clay you use when you get that octupus stuff ready to ship.

Ooooh good idea. Yes, I've heard about Griots and Mothers clay. Some even complain that Meguiar's is too soft--so I guess it's a preference thing. But yeah, I forgot I can put the clay up for sale. LOL.

I am new to claying but I have no problems with mothers clay being hard to grip. It seems to stick to my firngers just fine. I guess it kneeds a little hard but only if its cold. I am naive in the ways of clay but I had no complaints with mothers. And I love the cinnamon smell of their lubricant.

I think the Mother's clay is as good as any of them as well. That's kind of the point of my original post - after trying Meguiar's, Mothers, Griot's, Zaino, Prima, and probably a few others, I still haven't found a clay that really stands out from the rest. With most other detailing products (quick detailers, glass cleaners, vinyl dressings, etcetera), I eventually seem to find one or two that suit me much better than the alternatives.

I will try the Meguiar's Professional Blue clay, though, since I don't have any experience with it yet, and because Richard speaks so highly of it.

If your looking for a OTC product, I would say head over to your local Auto Zone and pick up some Clay Magic, stuff is cheap compared to other claybars, as last time I bought it, it was around $10.
