Need Pressure Wash in Culver City, CA
Need Pressure Wash in Culver City, CA
Hiya All,
K, I need to go and find a place today to have the undercarriage of my MCS pressure washed today, or steam cleaned or acid washed, whichever is best
. There are some grimey bits on there from something I hit in the road, and I need to have the rest removed. I have no idea where to go, and don't really trust most car washes, I kinda expect they'll thrash on my MINI. So where would be best, any suggestions/ideas?
Help me obi-octane-guy, youi're my only hope

edit: Difficulty factor of +2 due to the fact I am trying to go on another road trip tomorrow. So really gotta get this done today.

Kenchan,
I have done that already, but I need a little more "oomph". But I am worried about any high power water or steam penetrating the hoses, or getting thru any seals. Is that an unrealistic concern? If it is, I am happy to lose that anxiety.... :P
Thanks for the help Kenchan,
Jason

Jason, totally realistic. A pressure washer will go through seals and hoses like hot knife through butter. Learned that lesson the hard way on an M1A1. Just use a little elbow grease and maybe a stronger degreaser.
Thanks for the info jinky. I'll put some more elbow grease into it, and maybe go buy a full-on degreaser. I had only been using dishsoap and cool water up to this point. Thanks for the tip homie.

xbook, you could try to reach OctaneGuy on the phone and ask him for more specific help if the elbow grease doesn't work.
here's a link to his announcement for his shop, which lists his cell number, so I'm assuming it's okay to call him:

How Culver City these days? I used to layover there at the hotel across from the dinner part of Pulp Fiction was filmed in. There was also a nice sandwich shop across the street and not to mention a marine store down the road for loitering(?) in.
Man I want my old job back.

I don't think there are any places out here in Los Angeles that does undercarriage pressure washing. As usually doing a undercarriage pressure washing is to get the salt of of the car and in Los Angeles our roads...well...aren't covered in salt!

Thanks! Yeah, the good thing is that I've been home sick for the past week, and I live in Mar Vista which is adjacent to Culver City and Marina Del Rey. The bad thing is that all my detailing gear is at my shop in Placentia--45 minutes away, but I'll be going there tomorrow to retrieve some of it for an upcoming detail.
I agree with others, unless you have a good reason, you probably don't want to be using a pressure washer. First you'll need to get it on a lift so you can get it up off the ground high enough to get a wand under there for full coverage. Secondly, a pressure washer can expel water that feels as soft as cotton, or with the nozzle right against your paint--will tear it off like rice paper. It all depends on you use it.
