After a long winter, I can finally get back to hand washing again (if I pick the right day, 70 tomorrow, 40 the next day). Anyway, what's the secret to making the exhaust tip shiny again?

Amen to that question. I was going to try a Mother's polish to see if I could get the black "soot" off.

the mothers chrome polish works great on my Supersprint exhaust and was good on the stock one as well.

Start with a good rubbing of WD-40, gas or Bug-n-Tar remover. That will get up the stubborn black bits. Then give it a good scrubbing with chrome polish. Any brand will do. Then buff off. Ta daaa! 5 minutes, max.

WD-40 does work great for cleaning that black gunk on the chrome. I use regular car polish for mine.

I use blue magic metal/chrome polish. Looks like new and took less than 3 minutes!

Another suggestion would be to take the tip off. It is only held on by a single allen screw. Once off it is easier to work with. You could also polish it up on a grinder with a polishing wheel if you have scratches.

Gas on a rag.
Then buff with baking soda.

I use Simichrome. This is a small yellow/red box available at most motorcycle shops. This will polish anything!
