I spent most of the day on sunday wiring up my garage with outlets and fluorescent lights. Never thought I needed it till I realized it is pitch black outside once I get home for work in the winter months. Next step is insulation.

Perhaps your request didn't go through or something. I received a phone call and email the next day with a quote, and my samples and DVD arrived few days later.

So i got my craftsman tool case last night....was on sale 6chest/4rollaway
10 drawers total $349, ball bearing and black. with the liners and tax,
came out to about $420, so within budget.

it's small but good enough for my use. im still going to use the tool boxes
on my shelf for my smaller projects and bascially put my car related tools in
the new tool case. i think im going to get me the stubby wrench set this week
(the ratchet ones with pivoting neck). i think next step would be
to get the intermediate 3 drawer and get more standard size tools in there.
most of my tools are metric.

my garage space is tight but with the roll away i can at least gain more
space as needed.

kenchan, pics when you get a chance? Great price by the way, apparently you have a latent shopping gene .

I got my Racedek sample yesterday, thankfully it is not my favorite. My husband and I both prefer the Dynotile and the Daytona. The Dynotile has a very understated pattern and also has a slightly different way to snap together. It has an overlap with a channel underneath which makes it more watertight. We will probably use it on our covered deck so the area under the deck will be more watertight. I think I will go with the Daytona in the garage since I like the stylized tread pattern and it is a bit cheaper than the Dynotile.
I will hopefully be ordering after Thanksgiving is over and should get it installed before Christmas.

^^ oooo~!! very nice, BoCRon.

im going to take some snap shots later on today of the tool case. my
garage is a mess right now due to re-organization.

i was checking out the sears.com store and noted that the
stubby metric set with ratchet is already on sale $99.99! woohoo~!
kenchan's going shopping again today.

actually i was over at Sears just now and if you can brave
the crowd, they will have the same tool case for sale for $299.
but it looks like quantities are limited.

got my misc tools and adapters. i didn't do the ratchet type stubby
as they seem to be a little bigger than wat i was looking for so did
the non-ratcheting one.

not the best picts, but you get the idea...

i still have quite a bit of room to work with if i get the drawer trays
so should be enough for me for a while. i have drills and other
larger tools in the bottom drawers and kept my smaller cutting
tools and plyers, wire cutters, etc. where they were before in the
red tool boxes cause i would use those tools more by the workbench.

for electronic tools and my other smaller tools i have it in the plastic
mobile shelf next to the detailing cart. that one gets used most often
for interior car install stuff like stereo related, illumination, accessories,
etc.

there's quite a bit more tools i want to get though!

woohoo, stubby.

Looking gooooooood Ken Nice box

We saw a new box today at Costco, 6 foot long - 5 foot high all Stainless . Beautifull piece of work.

I've even got permission to purchase, but it involves a move to another state. One of those.... "when you get your new shop promisies"

Now you just need the foam shadow box drawer liners

^^ yes, i saw those self-cut foam pieces at Sears next to my liners... and i
thought to myself "Smokey!!!"

damn you have a lot of tools. maybe in a few years
i'll have 1/2 of what you got.

btw, those stainless ones look like a cheif's chest box or something.
more like a kitchen shelf/appliance look (?).

wow, that's got to be A LOT of tools.
are those 2 intermediates that you have stacked in the middle?

I didn't know you can stack multiple intermediates like that.

I just bought one a few weeks ago at Sears. Six plastic wheels with an offset on the platform so it can be as low as it can be without rubbing the floor.

If you don't have any type of creeper and would want a free one, I'll give you one with a wood platform and steel wheels, but it does not have the offset to lower the platform.

I was actually thinking of building a pit in our garage. I don't really think it would be too hard. Just 4" of reinforced concrete which you should be able to get with a rental jack hammer. Then you would need to dig to a depth of what - 5 feet or so? You would need to line the walls probably with cinder-blocks with a finished width of 3 feet and then concrete on the floor and steps on one end (probably door end). I guess you would also need some way to get any water out like a sump pump. I'd also need to build a steel cover so it could be parked on. Bet I could do it in a week for less than $300 and a whole lot of sweat. I think it would be kind of handy though. Anyone done this?

Just picked up a couple items from sears (Black Friday). Not anything expensive but better them my previous setup. I am now looking at replacing my cabiniets.

thanks for the info an offer, Morris9982. i will check Sears again
next time im over there. right now im using a large piece of cardboard
and then another smaller piece of cardboard (the circle from tirerack)
where i lay my back on and side around on it. works great, non
the less...plus if i drip something on there, just replace. it's super low
profile, like 1/4"...

i tried a couple of creepers at my buddy's places but they were
too tall. there was only like 7-8mm clearance on the bottom of the
creeper, but add the cusion height and it gets kinda tall. if i use my
jack stands im okay... but i prefer ramps unless im swapping
struts or something. i was thinking buy a creeper and change the
cusion.

jeffc- looks cool. i have to say these black tool cases look
great. i like red/black ones too (like my tool boxes).

i picked up another pair of work gloves yesterday (sears) and a
large wire cutter. too bad they dont have the magnetic paper towel
dispenser for rollaways. ive seen them at a few online stores. i ended
up just getting a table top one for now with the tension arm. im going
to get that wall mount dispenser from Griots later on.

Alright, so I did it. I ordered 600 square feet of Daytona garage tile, and then to make myself even crazier I ordered 230 square feet of Dynotile for my covered porch!
It should take a week or so to get here and then I can get started on my dream garage.

I am thinking about this 15 foot Mini Robot from MINI USA, but will have to save up for the ink/paper. :D

I will just hang the top half, since my garage isn't 15ft tall.

Has anyone ever done the floor tiling in stages? I'm thinking about doing mine that way as the cash frees up, but I'd like to see if anyone else has tried it first and how it went.
