Peanut Butter in the Garage

I was in the middle of detailing my MINI and came out of the garage, grabbed a jar of peanut butter, spoke at length to my wife about something unrelated and then returned to the garage - jar of peanut butter in hand. She said nothing about the jar. I used the peanut butter to successfully remove wax residue from the plastic trim. When I was done I returned, jar of peanut butter in hand, to the house and spoke again to my wife and she watched as I returned the jar to the cupboard. At no time did she ask why I took a jar of peanut butter with me to the garage or what I did with it.

Does this mean that she has officially accepted my MINI obsession to the point where now nothing arouses her curiosity?

Yes. Either that or she wasn't paying any attention to you and what you were saying or doing.

Not married, but I think there comes a time when they just stop asking. Applys to members of opposite gender.

AS long as she still "sleeps" with you, I wouldn't worry......seems normal to me

BTW..... you may know this but do a good job with the clean up and cover the trash....rats love peanut butter

She should have asked why you didn't use olive oil (works good on sticky stuff). And I hope it wasn't chunky.
Oh wait.... count your blessings.

Peanut oil works just as well, actually easier to remove. Plus you can keep the bottle in the garage and avoid those potentially embarrasing moments

I've found that a Mr. Clean Eraser works really well on trim and raises fewer eyebrows... I'm guessing she either didn't notice the PB or she thought you were having a snack...

As long as we're on this thread... is there really anything special about peanut, or do all veg oils work as well? I used plain old supermarket cooking oil, and it seemed to do a good job. Just curious.

Will try with other oils, I've always heard about the peanut butter, but it just seemed to messy to try.

Yes, I can confirm that it is just the oil in the peanut butter that is working.

I always thought the reason to use peanut butter is so you can have your dog finish the detailing job of removing wax from your plastic trim.

I always use peanut butter as the bait in mousetraps, pretty succesful too. You don't want to leave that smell around if there could be rodents about...

Someone else told me about the peanut butter "trick". I use a polymer instead of a wax, and need to get rid of the white residue that extended over to the black arches. Will the peanut butter work on this?

I cleaned up my Meguairs NXT with Peanut butter. I bought a cleaner from meguairs for $8 and figured what the heck...peanut butter is cheap. it works GREAT!! I used smooth and rubbed it in so the paste acted like an abrasive. No more wax residue!!!

Better yet, no more $8 cleaner sitting around for 10 years.

Thanks,
azminied

I gave Austin his peanut butter spa treatment today to remove the white streaks from the Banana Gloss. Guess I could have tried vegetable oil, but veggies with bananas doesn't sound as good as peanut butter with bananas. Mmmm!!!!

Peanut butter and bananas, sounds like Elvis is in the building. Momma sure made good peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Yum yum.

If I'm not mistaken, Elvis loved his PB and 'Nanner sandwiches grilled in butter - like a grilled cheese.

Now, has anyone tried Bananna and Mayo? err, in a sandwich, not on your car!
