Zaino with ZFX

Hey, I am going to be detailing my car today, and was just reading over a sheet that came with my zaino order. It said that you are only supposed to apply 3 coats of Zaino polish w/ ZFX per day. Is this true? I thought you could as many as you wanted.

BTW where are you located? Aren't you in Lone Star MINI Club? If you are in the SA area, shoot me a PM.. I think I am detailing my MINI today.

I'd go along with Zaino with this one. After all, they would want you to use as much of their product as possible.

Seriously, I'm guessing that three coats is all that would reasonably cure in one day. Of course there's nothing stopping you from having at it again tomorrow.

The point behind three coats is that dry to the touch is not cured.

It's their product, go with their instructions. You can put a layer of Z6 down prior to your first Zaino coat, as well. Z6 between coats improves the application process. Don't forget to put a bit of Z6 on your applicator before you apply the polish.

I've got one coat Z5, and two coats of Z2 on my MINI. Three coats does the job!

Cheers,
Matthew Z.

You should only apply three coats per day...then you need to allow a day for total curing of those coats. But you can keep layering as many as possible.

Lets see...

3 coats a day... 2 days per weekend... 52 weeks per year = 312 possible coats of Zaino per year (only applying on the weekend)

I wonder how that would bead?

Ok this is kinda off topic but I didn't want to start another Zaino thread. Approximatly how many applications do you get out of a bottle of Zaino? I see the list the size of the bottles but on average how long is this bottle going to last. I am thinking of ordering the ZKIT-1 for $85 and want to know if this is enought to last a while if I wash and wax every couple of months.

I'm planning to introduce a friend and his MINI to Zaino this weekend, and add a second coat of Z2 to my MINI at the same time (Zaino'ed the cat two weeks ago).

But.... I'm out of Z6 and don't expect to get any more between now and Saturday.

Can I use QD instead of Z6 in the Zaino'ing process?

No. Don't. It will hurt the bonding process to use a foreign mix. It will destroy the durability. But skipping using the Z6 for a coat or two will not be a big deal.

I've heard of people putting Zaino on cars, washer/dryers, refrigerators, even lawnmowers. But never seen it put on a cat before.

Pics?

Is it necessary to put Z6 between Z2 coats. I have put on about 30 coats of Z2 over the last year, but never used Z6 in between each coat. Does it mean that I am not getting all the layering effects?

The Z6 between coats is not required. But, it does make the application easier. Give it a try next time. I think you'll like it.

Maya, my black cat, would sooner kill me than let me groom her, and she'd sooner eat raw vegetables than hairball remedy.

So I figure that if I can't treat the cat for hairballs, I can at least treat the cat's hair to make it easier for her to *ahem* deposit the hairballs.

Trust me, you've never seen such slick hairballs...

But maybe they'd come up even easier with the Z6!

Any questions???

Is it better to get the Z-2 kit or the Z-1 kit. I don't know if all of the extra products are worth the money.

The only difference between the two kits are:
1. leather cleaner
2. leather conditioner
3. tire (rubber/vinyl) conditioner

I personally like all these products a lot but it depends if you want/need them.

I bet the exact same as 2 or 3 coats!! The beading is only because of the topmost layer..
It would certainly look much deeper and shinier though.

The ZFX comes with four little applicator bottles to mix the accelerator and Zaino in. About a 1/4 of one of those bottles went over my mini twice and the black bits a third time. The instructions said to use very little and multiple coats. I may have taken it to the extreme but 10 coats later the thing looks great.
