Griots is the best and very safe for your MINI. Most of the exotic owners this is all they will use. Been to there facility in Tacoma as they have car events there. First class all the way. I have several of there products and cleaning systems. I have my cars professionally detailed but use Griots in between yearly details. NW Auto Salon put on a clinic on how to wash your own exotic the right way. I learned alot. First thing was never use anything from an auto parts sotre. OK for your lawn mower or Dirt Bike but not your car. The worse is the wheel cleaners. Never knew how wrong I was washing a car all these years. Stick with Griot's and you will be fine.

I would not use that type of product on heavy soiled areas or mud. You will scratch the car. You will need to hose off the heavy stuff first. I only use that type of product on the car that was washed a week or two ago and not rained on. It might be dusty and have some road crime. Use it to touch up areas or bugs, etc.

I wouldnt trust anything on road salt buildup if your thinking what im thinking. Need the 'ol bucket and sponge to gently float off the dirt and rinse it away.

Id love to try it, but wouldnt want to find out the hard way...

Yeah that stuff is mostly for museum cars......or the likes of which you would find in Jay Leno's Garage......not for real daily drivers.

I use it as a mid week wash, Ive had no issues with it..
Its handy too if your city or state has limits on water usage

Thanks all. Think I'll stick to hand washing. We usually get a few 50 Deg days each month around here.

Yeah its nice to be able to find somewhere half way warm to get washing.

I got one of the Nomad 18v battery powered pressure washers a while back and its way more than paid for itself already. All I have is a crappy apartment garage, and the Nomad with a little propane heater gets the job done

Griot's Spray on Car Wash and Hand Washing here!! My load of Detailing Supplies is mainly Griot's Products, if you ever get a chance to go to their Remodeled location I would highly recommend it!!

The spray on car wash is a great product. But it's made for just road grim on a well cared for car. It will NOT remove mud or heavy dirt, & in fact WILL scratch the car.

For a really dirty car, hose off all the crud, then follow with the spray on. I have a really nice black car, so I will use the power washer to get off as much as possible, then park her in the garage, & do the spray on.

The down side to the spray on is if you do not get it all off, it will streak & tiger stripe the car. Do not let it dry on the car. Use a few microfiber towels, like 4-6 per car, & turn them over all the time. One wet & one dry.

I've not used the spray on wash but do use lots of Griot's products including speed shine in between washings when it is mostly just dusty. Bath time is at least once a week and never more than two go by regardless of weather even if I have to replicate techniques once learned from a nurse during a long hospital stay. Hot water from the deep sink for wash and rinse makes it tolerable. One thing I've not seen mentioned yet is using the best quality microfiber for the job at hand.

Agree with the above comments. I love Griot's SOC but only use it on light dust - NOT when there is visible dirt, salt, etc. No product is going to protect your car well enough from that kind of dirt without soap and water.

They don't just tell you, when you order the 'kit', it comes with three of the proper cloths.

Thanks for all the advice. Sounds like I might not want to use the waterless product. The rear of my Mini gets so dirty. Still wondering what folks do in Icy/Snowing weather. Normally we get a few fairly warm days each month around here but this winters turning out to be a real killer. Calling for 6-12" of Snow here in the sunny south Monday and Tuesday.

I love Opti-clean from Optimum Polymer Technologies, works great, and more economical then most other waterless wash products. Like others have said though, you have to use common sense. If my car is more than slightly dirty I use Optimum No-Rinse.

What? The 35 oz spray bottle is available with the kits. Besides, the kits save a few bucks. When it gets close to empty, refill from the gallon jug. The small bottles are good for taking with on road trips. See the car wash kit at http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...ar+wash+kit.do

"Proper" changes when they get something new. But the super plush MF towels really seam to work well. But doing a full size car, you should go through more then the 3 towels in the kit.

I've got 2 Cars to Detail, it started with the MINI, now Hubby has a 2010 Kia Soul Shadow Dragon SE3!! I have more Towels than I know what to do with (storage wise) and yes I buy the Gallon Jugs (Pumps and Spiggets), the 32oz. Spray Bottles w/Sprayers, AND the 8oz. Travel Sized Bottles, plus enough accessories from Griot's that I should own a good portion of the Co. already!!

I mostly use Griots products in the detailing of my cars and my customer's cars here in Seattle. Their facility down in Tacoma is nothing short of amazing. They even have a detailing "bay" where they will demonstrate how to use the products if you have questions. Check out my FB detailing site...most of what I use is from them.

I have never used the Griots, but I have used Meguiar's Quik Detailer for mid-week touch ups to remove light dust from the boot before I have time to wash her again on the weekend. And it smells good-even my daughter like it! If it has rained during the week, I just wait to wash the car again on the weekend because the dirt seems to stick to the paint a little more, and I don't want to risk scratches. I wash every weekend, but then again, I am lucky to live in South Florida. Most of the time the temps do not dip below 40 in the winter.
