Black Sport Stripes Scratched

Hi everyone,

I just have a question regarding the black stripes. Mine got really scratched somehow and I don't know what to do. Is there someway to minimize the scratches or do I have to replace the stripes???

If they are scratched from simply drying the car with towels, they will clean up with scratch remover polish and then apply some sort of wax product.

I have black boot stripes which go down below bumper and this works in my case.

If they are deeper, through to the paint. I am afraid the decal will have to be replaced.

Sorry sequence and gRay rAvEn for the lack of detail, and thanks for taking the time to answer. My scratches are far from deep but they are concentrated around the middle of the stripes... It's barely white but visible when the car is clean... I'll post a picture when I wash the car

Has anyone ever taken the stripes off without damage to the hood? My stripes are "discolored". I have tried to clean them, dry them immediately, tried a polish, nothing seems to work. So I thought of removing them but thought the paint might peal.

My DS MCS manufactured in March of 03' had the factory bonnet stripes on until 2008.

After removal, there were "ghost" stripes. They have been off now for two + years and from certain angles they are still visible.

But I don't believe the MINI was garaged much until my purchase, somwhat speeding up that process.

Removed them with help of heat from a hair dryer. Came off very easily.

I removed my black bonnet stripes two weeks ago. I used a regular hair/blow dryer on the high & hot settings. I aimed it toward the edge of the stripe nearest the grill surround. About 5 seconds later I put my fingernail under it and they started peeling right up. I continued to aim the blow dryer under the vinyl and kept constant pressure (pulling and rolling the vinyl onto itself). It took approximately 10 minutes to do both stripes. THere was no adhesive left behind. My car is a 2009 PW/B. Fortunately for me there was no ghosting. I washed the car and put a fresh coat of wax on it and it looks like a new car. It looks so good without stripes I'm not sure if I'm going to re-stripe it and if I do then with what type/style. Good luck. I seriously stressed about removing the stripes for about 6 months and then decided to just do it and glad I did.
