Where to find green tape?
Looking for the green tape used in Octane Guy's DVD "PC for dummies" (my name, not his). Looking to do my first macahine cleanup as I prep for AMVIV.
I know many folks don't tape, but I would rather tape and race through the polish than sweat the edges. Alos, I'm concerned about my pinstripes.

If you have a Lowe's or a Home Depot (or any hardware store) near you, they carry blue painter's masking tape. I think it's made by 3M as well, and it's available in a variety of widths. I'm not sure what the difference is between the blue and the green tape, but the blue works fine for me when I'm masking off the car.
The green leaves less adhesive when taking it off however the blue is less expensive. The green a little more durable also. Both should work fine for detailing. If you were masking your car for painting you would want to use the green.

I use the medium tack blue tape in 3/4" and 1" sizes found at Target and Home Depot. I'm not fond of the green tape for the majority of work I do, though we used it on the DVD.
As for pinstripes..are they above or under the clear? Run your fingers over them, do you feel them? If so, it's probably over the clear and that means you have to be extra careful....unless the pinstripes you are talking about are on the bonnet stripes? If so...it would help if you were a bit more exact about your descriptions.

I was going to suggest that...I carry the tape as well, but AMVIV is this week and he's not going to receive the tape in time to polish his car before the event.

Let's overnight a $3 roll of tape!
I use the medium tack blue tape as well (when I tape, which is hardly ever). It's easily found at Home Depot, Lowe's, Ace, etc...

As for overnighting...too funny! AMVIV starts for us tomorrow as we start setting up and preparing our defenses for the invading hoards (that's what we're hoping for
) so I Black Wow'ed, washed and clayed tonight and will Amigo and Epic tomorrow AM with my new PC (woohoo!). Taking a break now, then I go back and tape.Richard's right, I needed it tonight, so I stopped by my neighborhood Ace Hardware and got blue. Sure it will be fine.
