ICE car wash. amazing shine!

i like to spend the bulk of my detailing $ on polishes, wax, protectants, etc., that when compared to "off the shelf" brands i guess would be considered more expensive.

but, when it comes to a wash product i usually tend to stick to a readily available wash in case i run out. and that is safe and i guess what some may call cheaper. even though price is a factor for a wash i just like using a wash i can run out and buy as obviously i use more of the wash than anything else.

my dad is an old school auto restorer and collector and the other day recommended the turtle was ice car wash- not, the ice waxes or polishes- just the wash. he claimed it gave an incredible shine. having just ran out of gold class i picked up a bottle @ $5 for a 1/2 gallon at kragen.

all i can say is i am AMAZED with the wash. i have never seen the MINI shine like this. it's totally crazy. and this is on my indi blue paint that is due for it's latest klasse detail next weekend. in other words it hasn't been polished and waxed in quite a while.

the shine is so crazy that even my MINI mechanic commented on it when i went in to get my sway bar installed. he was shocked at the finish and said it looks like a brand new, show car shine.

anyhow, can't wait to do a full on detail with it next weekend. but, thought i would post about it. i've seen comments on the ice waxes but, not just the wash. i don't know what is in the wash but, i haven't been amazed by a car wash in a long time and i've tried many in 40 years. coincedentally i noticed at pep boys yesterday they had a 2 for 1 sale on it so for $8 you get 2 gallons.

I use ICE wash as well, it's a great OTC product, that I find comparable to some boutique products!

I like the ICE car wash but I thought that their other products were a joke. The car wash has a nice slippery feel to it and a little product goes along way. I tried the liquid clay bar on my truck wasn’t about to try it first on the MINI it didn’t to anything. Stay with the real clay bar to do anything before a wax. The ICE wax didn't seem to make much of a different look after a wax didn't look shiny or no smooth feel afterwards.

agreed 100% the other products IMO are rather a waste. any benefits are quickly washed away. thats why i spend my bigger $ on higher quality waxes and poilshes and protectants (klasse, zaino).

the wash however has amazed me to no end. the other thing i have noticed is that here in **** valley, we get a lot of dust i MEAN A LOT. after a wash with the megs gold class the next day my car was covered in dust. however for some reason with the ICE wash, it seems to repel dust a lot better and a lot longer.

i wonder what is in the ice wash to get such a shine?

I too tried the Ice wax and liquid clay bar. The wax looked nice, but only for about 24hrs. The claybar was worthless. I guess when I burn through my gallon of Giots wash, I have something new to try.

I've now used it a couple of times, and I like it. It feels very "slippery" between your fingers after mixed in the water. My guess as to why it feels like this, and does leave a nice shine is the fact it has polymers in it.

Any wash with polymers in it will tend to help with hardwater, waterspoting.

i find no water spots. but, the thing that still amazes me is the shine it gives after a wash. it was even shiney before i klasse'd and just had used some MINI car wax on it.

I bought some and am interested to try it out. It does however not smell really good like Meguiars NXT car wash. I loved washing my car with that because it would always smell so good after..

Yep, I even take my hydro soaked towel at the end and wipe down the inside because the smell is so good.

What's this Hydro?

BTW, tonight I bought an ICE polish kit. I'm returning it tomorrow morning based on this thread. Is the NXT better?

if you're not into spending a little more for a really good polish and wax i think the NXT would be better. the ICE WASH shampoo however is real nice stuff!

as far as better polish and waxes. many here will recommend prima products, i recommend the klasse set and then a carnauba topper and others recommend zaino.

those are pretty much the 3 most recommended polish/ wax brands here. they will cost more (klasse "twins"= polish and sealer wax is about $50 but, will last you a long time) but, they will endure longer on your paint. and normally you will use less.
