New Prima products: Nourish for leather & Glide for clay!

Well, we've been talking about the coming of our leather conditioner for quite some time. Finally, it's here!

Prima Nourish is a leather conditioner which hydrates and, well, provides nourishment to your leather. Its consistency is a light cream, which enables enrichment yet will not clog pores or seat perforations.

Here's a link to the DP website for a full description & photo:
Prima Nourish

We've had so many requests for a clay lube spray during the past year or so that we're happy to announce the availability of Prima Glide!

Prima Glide has the perfect concentration balance: not too viscous and not too thin. It's perfect for providing the necessary "chemical cushion" between your clay and your paint, yet not too much (too much would reduce your clay's effectiveness).

Here's a link to the DP website for a full description & photo:
Prima Glide

And remember, you can also buy Prima products from any of Prima's retailers. Most Prima retailers will have these new items available soon, if they don't already. (for a list of Prima retailers, click HERE)

Please let me know if you have any questions about either product!

I know you just got done with Nourish, but would you consider making
a spray version for leather QD-ing in the future?

Jeesh... you are SO demanding, kenchan!

Do you want to be on our official product development team?? Wait... all of NAM is already on that team!

I'll add your idea to the "idea board" for review.

Su-weet!

You might want to update your Prima Clay description... since it recommends Slick as a lube... kinda funny when it appears on the bottom of the Glide page...

Glad to see you got the aforementioned leather product released!

Two questions:
Typically you use your QD for clay...is Glide somewhat similar to Slick, and if so how is it different?

And typically I relate leather care products to hair products...one to clean and remove all oils, another to put the right oils back in. Just wondering how you achieve this in one step (I know there are other one-step products...I just love to hear your excellent explainations!)

Speaking of new stuff... I don't see any Dirt Guards on your website, Heather.

How am I supposed to do one-stop shopping if you don't have any dirt guards ?!?!

On the other hand, maybe I'm just not seeing them because you have SO MUCH COOL STUFF ! Like this new product for leather care. I already have some in my shopping basket. Just searching for more stuff before I check out.

Second the motion for Dirt Guard. I have to order three or four things from your site again but the lack of dirt guard has been putting me off (i am a big fan of trying to get most of my stuff in one spot).

Glide is cheaper than Slick, and more diluted.

I'm glad you asked.... it makes me realize that we need to tweak our explanation to make something more clear:

Nourish is a conditioner, NOT a cleaner. You definitely should use a cleaner prior to using any conditioner, including Nourish. Nourish is not a one-step leather care product. You need a cleaner too.

Cleaning leather prior to conditioning helps prevent the grime & gunk from getting pushed into the pores of the leather more than they already are from general use.

Remember, clogged pores are your first enemy in leather care... once the pores are clogged, 1) your conditioners cannot penetrate (read: they won't work very well if at all!) and 2) your leather will become stiff and unpliable (yeah, YOU try to move around freely when you're all plugged up with nasty stuff!). So, always be sure to clean your leather prior to conditioning. In fact, I recommend more frequent, even if brief and light, cleanings (say, every 2-3 weeks) and less frequent conditionings (say, every 2-3 months).

Also, I have yet to find a cleaner-conditioner product for leather that doesn't also contain something harmful for the leather. From what I understand, it's chemically impossible to combine them without big sacrifices. Leatherique Prestine Clean is sort of an exception since it is a cleaner that also contains a tad of conditioning oils. The only way that I think that can pull this off safely and effectively is because the conditioning oil content is sooo wee.

Thanks for asking that!

Another good question!

Yes, you can also use QD as your clay lube. In most cases, there isn't much of a difference between using a QD or a dedicated lube spray.

In the case of using Slick as your clay lube spray, there is a slight disadvantage UNLESS you dilute Slick (50/50 with water)...

Clay lube is your "chemical cushion" between your clay and your paint... so you don't scuff your paint with the abrasives contained in clay. It allows your clay come in just enough contact to do it's job, though safely.

When you use Slick (undiluted) as your clay lube spray, Slick is so concentrated that it can create a slightly too thick "chemical cushion" between your clay and your paint. This is the ultimate in safety I suppose, but can often limit the power and effectiveness of your clay. The clay needs Slick to be diluted a bit so it can have closer contact with the paint.

So, go ahead and use Slick as your clay lube spray, but dilute it with water 50/50.

Or, use Glide and the dilution has already been done for you. Glide, for all intents and purposes, is like a diluted QD.

It's your choice! Dilute your Slick or use Glide straight.

(btw, Glide has a fun fruit-punch-sort-of smell! )

I know, I know... I too like to one-stop-shop.

We are still testing the various bucket "guards". To be honest, "still testing" in this case actually means we haven't had a chance to finish the testing! We've been sooo busy. Don't worry though- we'll have one of the guards available at some point. I just don't know when yet.

In the meantime, OctaneGuy sells them... so go visit www.showcardetailing.com! You probably need something from his site too (he sells Prima too, ya know!).

Thanks for letting us know what you want to see on our site though. You know what they say about the squeaky wheel....

Yes I'm afraid ken can be a bit too thick at times, but dilute him with water and he's fine.

Thanks for the answers as always, Heather. And both were what I hoped to hear.

The other commentary does make me agree, I have even said to myself I wish you worked both ways with OG and sold his products for those who want some more one-stop shopping.

Question - I got Slick to use as a lubricant for clay. Full strength it's a quick detailer. I don't really understand the concept of a QD. It can't be for spot cleaning - you really need water to get the grit off the car.

Novice detailer - thanks for your patience.
