Potential event... evening ice cream run...
Ok,
a number of years ago (like five) I set up a drive to Karl's Ice Cream in Fredericksburg. It was pretty fun, there are actually some twisty roads south of Alexandria, hidden away. So, my question is this... what would you all think of an after-dinner, ice cream run? Basically, something like meet somewhere at around 7:30pm and end up at an ice cream store after an hour or so of zipping through twisty roads at night. I haven't decided exactly where, but probably along the Occaquan watershed

Please keep in mind that we already have a full calendar for driving-related events on weekends through the end of June.
May I suggest a weeknight run? Since this is an "after dinner" type of activity, it should pose less of a problem with traffic and work schedules, such that it could be done on a weeknight.

Let's see.... you live in Alexandria and I live in Columbia, Hmmmmmm let me think about it... I sure I can figure out why you'd prefer McLean over Silver Spring if you give me some time.
hahaha.. listen, imagine driving a go cart at 70 mph all the while gripping the steering wheel to where your knuckles are white praying that you don't become road kill.. and for 45 minutes. Just GETTING to silver spring would give me a heart attack hahahah..
but I'm down for whatever!!! rofl
ps.. defylogik, can I get a WITNESS?!

I had some of the Megajolt (Espresso & chocolate chips) on saturday and Banana <some fancy name> (basically it was bananas and caramel with chocolate shavings) yesterday. Both were great. Another favorite of mine over there is the Pomegranate Sorbet.

Based on the NAM calender, I think this will be in July. Though, it seems like some of you would be interested in a week-night deal. I found an ice cream shop in Occaquan, need to zip down there and see if it has acceptable wares and then test the route my Garmin software is showing me. It's about 30ish miles depending on the start point. The tricky thing is to keep everyone off major roads, and start late enough that traffic wouldn't be bad. More presently. Karl's is good, but once you cross the Occaquan River, there are no fun, decent routes to Fredericksburg. Just route 1 and i95... yuck!
