Hmmm...I might be able to help you pick up SF, Jay. I have to drop the dog off to be groomed at 8:30AM Thurs. and pick him up at 1 PM.
I could drive to your house after the drop-off, leave my car there, we could ride to Tate then ride tandem back to your place.
Just a thought....

That is very nice of you Katie, but that is alot of driving for you just to help me pick up SF. I appreciate the gesture, I don't want you to go so much out of your way though. Plus, they never gave me a time, just Thurs.

Hey, I don't mind...really. Keep the suggestion in the mix, so to speak. If you get a specific time either Thurs. or Fri., I'm game. I'm unemployed at the moment as well, so I have a lot of time on my hands.

Yes, SF is back We got a new headliner and carpet. We got to Tate and the BC1 was still being installed and the seats were out. Stacey and I looked at the seats from the bottom and saw nothing out of the ordinary. We washed her when we got back and all is good.

Who says that the internet makes for less human-to-human communication?!

Congrats on getting SF back, and see you's on the run tomorrow!

We washed the MINI this morning, and I must say, it's lookin' good. I even decided to put the cover on it! After the wash, I located and inspected all the drain tubes. I plan to make that a regular thing to do. Glad you got Soulfire back!!

I am glad as well! On the way back from the Philly run we obtained a flat tire, so we have to deal with that now.

We Got Screwed!!

So we found our next problem! We picked up a screw somewhere on the way back from Philly and, well the sensor went off on 270. We can all talk about run-CRAPS all we want, but my mind is made up, I will FOREVER purchase ru-craps! A screw (phillips head if you must know) hit us dead center of the tire. So long story short, the driver's front is off the car...She is sitting in my parking lot on her jack...And the tire is at NTB being patched...My GAWD this car is working my little heart.... But I LOVE HER!!

I love my run-flats too. If I wanted a Cadillac I would have friggin' BOUGHT ONE! Nice to hear that your run-flats proved their worth!

Now here is the next problem. This month seems to be cursed for us... The tech at the tire place DAMAGED our WHEEL
So tomorrow morning we have to go back up there and talk to the manager. There was chipping of the powder coat in the back (ALL the way around the edge as well as actual chips out) and tool marks as well as pry marks from whatever they used to get the tire off in the front.
We showed them the one TINY nick from a rock hit that we had caused before it went back to the tech. They say that they can refinish it, but will it look stock? If not, I want them to REPLACE it! They are just WAY TOO EXPENSIVE to not do anything!
But at least the tire has been patched!

Wow, September really isn't your month! I think next september, you should go ahead and put Soulfire in a nice garage somewhere.

September has unfortunatly NEVER been a good month for my family. Just adding to the depression/stress.

You did take it to a tire place with the proper equipment to handle RFs? Most places do NOT have the proper equipment.

NTB and Merchant Tire about both owned by the same company. I was at Merchant Tire a month ago and asked the if they sold or handleds RFs. They had NO clue as to what i was talking about. In fact, their comment was something like "run flats ... oh like those low aspect ratios tires"

See http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?f...#faq_faq_wheel

Always use a shop which has been certified for run flat tire servicing

They list the equipment needed.

When I had a new RF installed on a rim, I used a tirerack recommended installer. They specifically showed me the equipment and said they bought the machine (an expensive machine) specifically because of the Tire Rack traffic they were getting to handle the Run Flats.

Just beware if they used the improper equipment. If it was just a patch, I dont understand how they damaged the wheel at all unless in balancing

Some shops remove the tire and use a combination plug patch from the inside vs just a plug from the outside. Hence removing the tire from the wheel. I had a flat Thur afternoon. Non runflat. I had the slime and compressor in the trunk, but just borrowed a friends vehicle and ran home and grabbed a spare wheel and tire. NTB patched no problem, since not a run flat. I like them because they do the patch plug combo from the inside.

But from what you all say I'd stay away for run flats.

Ah Edge, so young and certain of yourself. Some of us switched from runflats not to create a 'Cadillac', but because when researching tire performance ratings there wasn't a run flat near the top of the list. The better ride is just a bonus. A appreciated one, but a better ride was only a bonus, not a determining factor, at least in my case.

Could I have just driven home if I'd left the run flats on? Yup. Could I have used the mobility kit and fixed it that way? Yup too. Or called MINI or AAA. I choose to deal with a little extra potential inconvenience as a tradeoff for the tire with the performance ratings I liked.

.
If NTB did patch from the inside (as they should), then they better have had the correct equipment (or not).

Like I said, I don't have runflats hence no problem. Anyone with runflats should clearly go elsewhere.

Sorry to hear about soulfire, Jay. I've had the OPPOSITE problem (what loxycoon posted) a couple or three times, where the window didn't go down like it's supposed to when the door was opened. And I'm not 100% sure, but as I recall when I brought it to the dealership, I couldn't reproduce the problem, of course. I'm pretty sure that after the second time, they replaced something in the door (a motor?). (Like I told you, I've had quite a few warranty issues, but I still love my MINI, and both Sterling, where I bought her, and Towson have been fantastic about taking care of her and me. That's why, as this one gets closer to the end of her warranty, I'm looking to replace her with a new one--although that's gonna break my heart... no more Electric Blue.)

"A Many Modded MINI"

So I guess when you say, "many modded," Jay's Redneck windows was not one of the mods you had in mind, Stace?"

I'm just reading this for the 1st time, Stace, and hope it has a "happy" ending, well, as much of a happy ending as one can have after getting the whole inside soaked!

I would have driven down the street to see, and pay condolensces, had I known sooner... I feel for ya.
