Soulfire in distress
Erm, the back draining tubes? I knew there were ones in the front, but not the back! Hmm, time to take another trip outside and see...
I'm going to make it part of my car washing routine from here-on-out to check all of the drains! It sucks when your car floods if it's under warranty, but it's really going to suck if its not!! And my warranty was gone long ago! Plus, my MINI rarely sees the inside of a parking garage, which gives the drains ample occasions to get gunked up.
Thanks for the heads up, and I hope you get SF back soon! (And enjoy your sleep
)

Make sure you do what you have to do to get new carpet! You dont wanna be dealing with mold spores in about a month and wonder why everyone who rides in your car, including you, gets sick!
I hope you get it all situated and sorry to hear of your troubles.

The first thing I thought when I read 'wet headliner' was that the sunroof drains were clogged. This is precisely what happened to my previous car and it has a lot to do with why we bought a new mini this summer.
It's something I'll have to keep an eye on because the trees overhanging our driveway and curb spaces drop all manner of debris on our cars. Leaf, bark, nuts, dead branches (GRRRR...dents). Worst of all is pollen and the worst pollen is oak pollen. That will clog up rubber tubes where they have to make bends. My saturn's sunroof drains cloggled at a point inside the trunk and filled up the spare tire compartment with water.
I have to learn the routing of the drains in the minis yet, but testing the drains is pretty simple. With the sunroof open on a dry day, carefully pour a little water into the outer peripheral area of the sunroof hole. Make sure the water doesn't stand. Then, look under the car for water drips. Increase water flow to get a feel for how well it's draining.
In saturnfans.com's forums, a few folks were sucessful in clearing the drains by sticking a rubber-tipped air compressor nozzle into the drain hole at the sunroof end and blowing the junk out the other end. I didn't have a compressor, but it was easy to find the rubber tubes inside my trunk and I removed them from the car to clean and flush them out.
As for the carpet....several days of fresh, dry air circulating through the car can dry it out. Dessicant packets might help if you close the car up at night. But if the car sits closed up on a hot day with a wet seat or carpet, you'd be surprised how fast mold will grow. I speak from experience. Ask about a new carpet under warranty.

YAY! Just make sure they dry everything out thoroughly before installing the new carpet. New carpet on damp anything will still equal mold.
If ya want, I can toddle over there and check on things for ya. Just a thought....

Katie, sure, if your bored
I am not sure if it is dry by now. They said they have to order the part, so SF will be there a little longer. I believe the Tech is Sam, he said he is going on vacation next week. Thanks.

The guy yesterday told me that when the strip everything out, they will put in some kind of mold deterant (something about the same thing they use in the A/C or something like that) and will spray that under the headliner/carpet!
I am just really happy that they are changing everything. I became VERY alergic to mold living down in FL and so dont' want to deal with being sick again!
So it looks like we shall get her back on Tuesday or Wednesday! Just in time to go to Philly!

That is severe damage. What about the seats ... are they preplaces all the seats??? Water is there will get mold too!
It multiplied into the end result of it. We checked the seats before we left the dealer and they were fine. I was suprised about that actually.

I dropped my baby off @ Tate this afternoon for service and there was Soulfire sitting right at the gates to Tate's service area. Very hot on the inside and soon to have a all new inside

Got a call from Tate today by a SA named Phillip. He is the one taking over for Caroline. The parts are in and SF should be ready Thurs. Hopefully we can actually pic her up, Stacey has to work that night and am not sure if we can do it, plus she works the night before, so it may not be till Friday. We shall see.
