I think that works for us.

In my opinion, if you spend $50 on a FRS/GMRS radio, you really can't go wrong. I have some Cobra radios that sold for about that much, and I have no complaints. I know a lot of folks have Motorola radios and like them just fine.

Just as long it can get subchannels (and if you're spending $40-$50, it should), and I would say at least a 10-mile advertised range (which it won't get even close to unless you're on open water... ), you'll be ok!

Now you just have to convince her of taking a lovely vacation in the mountains around the first weekend of May next year!

Hmm...that one could be tricky . Hopefully, I will have a more stable job by May (hopefully I could have one lined up for the beggining of November) so that I can move out, and not have to worry about getting approval for future runs . (Anyone wanna donate to the 'Jeremy Moves out Fund'?)

I just bought a pair of Cobra FRS radios. Now I just have to figure out how to use them. Is there a channel and sub-channel we always use and one that I should have the radio set to in case there's last minute wrench thrown into the gears ??

The de facto "standard" for MINIs is Channel 7, subchannel 21. Some MINI clubs don't use this though, but the vast majority do (including us). It works very well with minimal interference (considering).

Yay!! I think your mom is going to have a wonderful time. This may open the door for you to come on other runs w/o having to beg, since she will see up close and personal how easy/nice the runs actually are.

Wendy, Am I correct in assuming we'll be hooking up with I-70 at the Rt 40 entrance after we meet for breakfast on Saturday morning ?

It would be easier for some to meet us there instead of at the restaurant... if they live North/East of the interstate.

Might I suggest that you stay near the front of the pack in the run. The back of the pack has to really haul it sometimes. I've run as sweeper a couple times on runs and it is definitely the fastest part of the chain.

Best Buy does tattoos now?! Is there anything they won't sell & install???

(Ok, lame joke, but I amused me... )

I definitely recommend this! I had to drive, *ahem* extremely spirited a few times before to keep the group together!! The front usually stays calm and peaceful though. Also, if any separation happens, you'll still be with the main group, and not dealing with the confusion and chaos of a few lost cars!

Yeah, we can meet closer to the interstate for easier hook up. Marriottsville Road is a good place, where Jeremy marked on the map, just need an exact spot.

if we split into groups for the run...let's get cell phone #s from each group leader, or at least someone's # within each group. That way, lost souls may not be lost for long...just a thought.
