[Sat, Oct 7] MINIs Hit the Hills - Cumberland MD
[Sat, Oct 7] MINIs Hit the Hills - Cumberland MD
This event is happening on Saturday October 7.
Please join us for a fall driving event in Western MD, West VA and a little bit of PA too! Hopefully, with the dry summer, the leaves will cooperate and turn early!
Since this run is a long drive to the start point for most, we would like to suggest folks come up on Friday night if they are able and meet for dinner. If not, we are scheduling the start a little later than some of our drives in order to allow folks the time to drive up on Saturday morning. Staying over in the area Saturday night would also be an option.
The run will visit Cumberland, Mineral County, West Virginia, Jennings Randolph Lake, Garrett County MD, lunch in Grantsville MD, Somerset County PA (including a stop at the Flight 93 Memorial Site) and ending back in Cumberland.
Your hosts and drive leaders will be Byron and Sue (Coopercops), who have been working very hard to put this route together.
Participants will get a cling to take home.
Here are the details:
When: Drive is Saturday, October 7. See details on start time below.

3 things...
1. in your post it says october 15th, instead of october 7th
2. 1 person, 1 MINI, will not be at dinner, and will not spend the night prior
3. if a 2nd person comes along, will that pose a problem?

Yes, a second person might pose a problem as we have to give RSVP numbers to the restaurant and sometimes they cannot handle anymore. You are better to RSVP for two and have someone maybe not come.

you're actually getting some vacation?
Yeah, the one I never got last year. We have no idea what our construction timing is going to be, so I am getting out now.

I looked up the hotel info online and they aren't showing any vacancies. Somehow I don't think that's right so I'm going to be calling them up to find out the real story.
Oh yeah, if you couldn't infer. I'll be attending and probably taking off a wee bit early from work that Friday to make it up there early.

We just came home from running the route and everything is good to go... including PennAlps (had to stop there to test the food)Hard to believe but some of the leaves on the PA leg have already turned... not too many tho, so there should still be plenty for the run.

i did check the holiday inn site as well, and it is saying no rooms available. is everyone going to be staying there or will they be trying to stay at the best western?

Finally going to make an event
Count me in. FINALLY going to get a chance to make an event! (Hey, was supposed to work that day and got the OK to change my schedule around. Even the stars must be aligned right for this one.)
Bringing a passenger, but won't be able to make it until Saturday morning.

Anyone want to split a room at the Comfort Inn & Suites. With a AAA discount it's still like $140 a night for a 2 bed room. Although I would probably be willing to take the hit for the night I'd rather not.
