[Sat, Oct 7] MINIs Hit the Hills - Cumberland MD
If it is going to take us approx 2hrs 15min to get to cumberland, we should leave the dinner NLT say 8:30. That would get us there at 10:45 for some pre-run socializing and/or 15min to spare for traffic (which I hope we won't hit any that early on a Saturday am).
For those eating, we can meet at 7:30/7:45 (will that be enough time to eat?) and for those just caravaning, meet at say 8:15/8:20.
That sounds like a plan to me.

(As long as everyone else can keep up
)
Besides, everyone knows Red cars are faster than Green ones !
Gracious
Not just 'Green' but 'British RACING Green'. You dont got a shot
Alrighty Speed Racer (read Jeremy), you going to be meeting us with Sally at the TT at 8:20 then?
Oh, Pardon moi !
Call it what you want, but Red still beats any shade of green you can come up with. And a <<cough cough>> more experienced driver who has spent 7 years on the German Autobahns is going to keep up with a rookie driver any day (unless the rookie driver goes out and gets a Porsche between now and Saturday).

Oh, the young...
You haven't lived until you've cruised the Autobahn doing about 160 mph. Your senses are all on high alert and your heart is thumping so hard you can feel it in your feet. You know if you make one tiny mistake, you're history.
Then one of those 7-series BMW's passes you and brings you back down to earth.

Seriously for one second... I'd say my 160 mph on the Autobahn was much safer than your driving. Remember, there's a reason there's no speed limit on portions of the Autobahn. You have to pick your spots for driving fast. I-695 at 3:30 is not the time nor the place.
You're starting to grow on me... be careful out there !

We'll be there from around 9-9:30 am on, so if anyone's still hungry before the start of the run, you'll be in business.

Thanks, Mark...
Jeremy1026 & "Chili Red & Pepper White"... the NAM Site Guidelines are very clear:
I can't stress this enough. Please do not discuss blatantly illegal driving activities here on NAM. If someone else does, please do not quote or continue the conversation on that note either, or else your posts will be subject to edit and/or deletion as well.
Discussions of Autobahn speeds are obviously an acceptable topic, since there is no speed limit on parts of the German Autobahn. However, unless very clear legal context is given (Autobahn, racetrack, etc.), all speeding and other excessive driving activities are presumed to be in a public (and therefore illegal) venue.
PLEASE - can we get this thread back on topic - discussing the MINIs Hit the Hills run.

Hagerstown is approx. 70 miles from Cumberland. The top of Sidling Hill (after getting on I68 at Hancock) is approx 1/2 hour from Cumberland.
Because we are going to cover a fair amount of territory, we plan on starting the run exactly at 11:00am (drivers' meeting around 10:50am).
If anyone thinks they may need our cell phone # before arriving here Sat morning, send us a PM and we'll give it to you. If you run late and we start without you, we can talk you through catching up (hopefully).
Jeremy (if you are able to go), Sally, and for anyone else interested in breakfast, we are going to be meeting at the Double T Diner on Rt 40 (across from the Enchanted Forest and next to the brick 1st Mariner bank). It's the intersection of Centennial Lane and rt40, the address is 10055 Baltimore National Pike, EC, MD. Meeting time 7:30/7:45 first one gets a table, PM me if you would like my cell number or bring your radio with you.
Darn, I wanted to meet up at the Double T, but it's just too far out of my way...
Ah well, see y'alls in Cumberland!
Oh, and Jeremy, remind your parents to thank their lucky stars that you want to play with little cars with old(er
) responsible folks rather than sitting in someones' basement smoking crack or robbing liquor stores!

Okay.... no speaking of driving at high speeds where it's legal anymore. Since you included me in your warning, I'll consider that directed toward me as well. Just as soon play it safe than to violate the TOS.
Jeremy started it, you just helped to perpetuate it. 90%/10% blame here. Not a HUGE deal now, I am just reminding you guys of the rules here - they are to protect NAM.
Feel free to speak of Autobahn (or track) adventures all that you wish... many of us only dream of having the chance one day!
No... hadn't realized you edited some of the posts, but I see it now. Glad you left the part in where I was discouraging our young friend from speeding.
No problemo ! If there's one thing you learn in 23 years of life in the military, it's following rules.
