Gene, did you try the Red Roof Inn?

 

I tried all in Post #18 and every Motel Directory I could find. I tried Red Roof 2 days after you did Katie, and they were full. Between that distance run and parents weekend at Frostburg, they've done a number on the motels.

 

Darn! I haven't booked a room yet, I was hoping to just call Red Roof or something... this doesn't bode well. I may have to try to get up super-duper early and drive up there on the morning of... which sucks!

Does anyone going have a room with two beds that they are willing to split the cost of?

Alternatively, if anyone does find another place not too far away with rooms available, please let us know here on the thread!

Maybe try something around Hancock - it's a 30-40 min drive from Cumberland.

 

Another idea might be to check hotels in the Hancock MD area. It is about 1/2 hour away (30 miles or so I think). There are tons of hotels there and probably an OK drive for Friday night dinner and a much easier drive for the Saturday AM start.

As a guide to travel time, Cumberland is 2hrs, 15mins from 695, about the same from 495, NOT COUNTING FRIDAY EVENING TRAFFIC.

Since I do not have accommodation booked, I will be unable to drive up on Friday night, so I cannot attend the dinner. I'll be driving up early on Saturday instead.
