[Sun, June 25] Picture Party!!

Ok, so here we are again, and I am proposing a Picture PARTY!!
I am free to host a party/cookout (potluck..i'm not cooking for you all!! ) at my father's house up in Glenwood.
Sallykat wants to experiment on people and do some great photos! So why not have aparty!!! The two dates I have in mind are both Sunday's the 18th or the 25th of June.
My father's house is located just down the street from LDG, so I think everyone kind of knows where it is. We can have a MINI invasion and get some great photos. Let me know if anyone is interested, and we can have a good cookout!
(And anyone who wants to help me put on my sway bar!!! LOL )
When: Either June 18th or June 25th, Sunday's
Time: Sometime in the afternoon so we got good light for pictures, can actualy see what we are eating...
What to bring: A dish of some kind ( I can provide burgers/dogs) and a SHINNNNY MINI
Who: Whoever wants to come have a good time!
If there is interest, I will post directions/address/ and you can pm me for phone number if you need it.

I can tote along my camera rigs too. I should have a newer CCD based camera next week. The new one is a day/night camera so it'll work in color down to 1 Lux then it switches on a bank of IR leds and switches the camera mode (night is BW only). Time for some night driving tests.

I gave my original CMOS camera to John so he can rig it up to one of his cars for some cool videos. Just the camera not the mount. I'm still working on getting a bunch of towhooks to get the plates welded on. I've just been slacking and overwhelmed at the same point (been up past midnight the past 2 nights trying to get some software running). Hopefully I'll have some mounts by the time we go go-karting this month.

Since Im mentioned in the first post, I guess I'd better be there!

Still looking at cameras, may have a new toy as well by then.

The 25th would be better for everyone, I think. As I mentioned in another post on another thread, The 18th is fathers day for most, and you will all be sore from go karting. (I would love to go to take pictures, but I cant)

See you all at the sway bar/picture party!!

My husband and I are going to try to make it- we have to go to a show (Spamalot) in DC that night so the earlier we start, the better!

Well, people, tell me what time you would like to do this. Better light in the day time. I guess we can make it a lunch/early afternoon event... No problem here. Jay and I are flexible and the grill will be fired up!!

Too much light could be bad. Im thinking sometime around 1 or 2 to start. Maybe take pictures as the light gets better. That will give us time to eat, install your sway bar, and I can scout out picture locations.

Now my dilemma is, get a new camera? (and which one), get new wheels for Mia? or get a rear sway bar? Decisions, decisions. I should probably hold off on all three til I get the new job.

FYI, if anyone is interested, Ive added some other photos to my art link, particularly in animals, landscapes, and self portraits. Working on another self portrait, but not sure if I will add it yet.

If you don't want to pay too much (or potentially anything at all) check with someone who has a Cooper S and just got a aftermarket swaybar (like Paul, Katie's husband). They might have the MCS stock one that was removed and would be willing to give it away. The MCS stock is thinker than the stock on the MC so there should be a difference in feel.

Keep in mind though that only the SS+ on the MC has a rear sway bar in the first place... if I recall correctly, no rear sway bar at all with the SS suspension.

Does that mean it can't be done? Or that I would need other parts to make it happen?

There was a sway on my MC (dont have SS) - it is 13mm and a piece of cake to remove. Sally, this is an easy and nice update to your car.

If we are able to do our sway bar install that day, I would be willing to give Sally ours.

I didn't mean to give that impression - it most certainly can be done. Just that I thought the MC with SS didn't have a rear sway bar at all... but according to Sherill...

Sherill - I just want to clarify - you said "don't have SS"... did you mean to say "don't have SS+" ?

The MC is available with only two factory suspensions - the SS and the SS+. As I understand it, the rear sway bar (or lack thereof? I'm not 100% sure) is one of the differences.

If however you meant to say you "don't have SS+", which means you did have the SS... then I stand corrected, and perhaps both suspensions on the MC come with a rear sway, just different sizes.

I hope I don't sound too confusing. :impatient

I can come

I'm free that weekend for some picture taking. Plus, I installed a sway bar just before the Dragon so it's fresh in my mind. I also have an my factory(MCS) one but I would recommend buying a new, stiffer, thicker, and adjustable one, like the "Prefered 22mm" by R-speed. Double check that it will fit your ride, though.

WOO HOO!! I can't wait! I am looking forward for people to come hang out, eat some good grub, help me and Sally install a sway bar or two!! (PLEASE can someone bring a floor jack?? I don't have one!) There are some really nice places in the area for pictures as well. Green all around, and houses are rather far apart..We can even go up to the school or the local soccer park down the road.. But all in all good places..But more importantly, good times to chill out with friends!

I have only one floor jack so if someone can bring an extra, that would help a lot. I have some jack stands and tools. Anyone need springs put on while we are at it? Just call me MINI Randy. I like to tinker. So far I've installed springs, swaybar, sportslink, speaker, amps, radio, and an ipod adapter. Oh and can't forget the graphics. I install two tiny dragon stickers on each side of the car windows.
