Okay, I just check out the website and I'll do some more research, but basically, I'm there.

I was also thinking about doing FATT at Summit sometime this spring--I'd like to bring my daughters (The Borg Twins) if they can afford cars by that time.

Are you the guy I talked to on mini2 about the one lap race?

Peace,
On March 3 - 5th, www.carguys.com is sponsoring a weekend at the track. There are about 5 or 6 mini owners from Mini of Sterling there on the 4th and 5th.

As much as I'd love to come to the Summit Point event from March 3-5, I don't want to miss the annual DCMM meeting... so I don't think I can make it. It's a shame that Car Guys doesn't seem to allow you to sign up for just one day... because I'd love to come just for March 5.

Single day still available

RE: the Car Guys event at Summit Point, Mar 3 - 5 -- this afternoon I signed up for Friday, Mar 3rd. It costs $275 for the single day (see http://www.carguys.com/calendar.html). There were still openings for that day when I checked a couple of hours ago.

Hey!
Right now the best deal on a track day is to join BMWCCA and do theirs. It's about $40/yr for the club and $180/day for the track. Considering the best instructors with a tremendous amount of experience teach there (at the MINI class a year or so ago, most of the instructors were BMWCCA and Porsche PCA guys) and they are very, very safe and well organized, the BMWCCA driving schools can't be beat. Plus this year there are alot of them. Check out www.bmwcca.org and http://www.nccbmwcca.org/index.php?driving_schools MINIs and MINI owners are totally welcome at events, and many BMW club members own a MINI or two in addition to their BMWs... myself included!

The Potomac chapter of Audi Club North America also puts on excellent events for good money. Two days on the full course at VIR for $325 at the end of April. (Sorry for the late notice, I just joined up!)

There are two more days' driving with PCC-ACNA at Summit Point in October. Check their calendar here:http://www.audiclubna.org/chapters/p...nt&event_id=55 It pays to plan these days ahead because they fill so quickly.

$40 to join ACNA for a year.

After-class report: I learned a lot at the Car Guys event at Summit Point on Friday, 3rd. My group had only about 6 - 8 cars, and they included a 400 hp Maserati and a "triple-turbo" Mustang (I swear, that's what I heard the Mustang driver, Hector, say). That Mustang was unbelievable on the straight, and fast in the corners too. The beautiful Maserati got faster as the day passed. My car, WILLI, ran great all day. Stan, my instructor, was a good guy -- very helpful..."third gear, listen to me, third gear, third gear, not second, third.." It's easy to get excited when the track stretches out ahead of you.

It was good. Two thumbs up for the company and the track (Jefferson)
