DCMM @ Lucky Dog: Dec.17 Car Show & Open House

DCMM's Top Tuner, John Behe tells me that he is changing the name of his shop from Glenelg Servicenter (http://GlenelgServicenter.com/) to (da da dum dum - a drum roll, please)

The Lucky Dog Garage

To celebrate the holidays and the LDG name change, John plans to host a DCMM Open House & Christmas Car Show starting at 1:00 PM on Saturday, Dec.17. John will have some suitable holiday cheer and will offer some suitable prizes for the MINIs that are deemed to be the Best Dressed MINI for the Holidays.

While you tour LDG, John wants to show off the new Red MCS racecar (which came in 2nd last weekend at Daytona) and to tell about the new Lucky Dog product line he is developing with Mini Mania.

Some folks may want to stick aroud after the Open House for a meal and some more bench racing. There's a good local bistro (called the
Lucerna Grill) across the street and, if there's interest, we will schedule a few tables.

Some of you attended the Tech Days we held last winter at John's (Pictures can be seen at
http://www.pbase.com/tomcat/tech_day and http://www.pbase.com/tomcat/tech_day_2). If you think that these were a good idea and want more, let know John and we'll see if we can schedule a repeat for this winter.

As usual, please RSVP to
events@dcmetrominis.org and let us know if your car will be decorated for the holidays and if you want to eat at La Taverna afterwards.

BTW -- John is changing the name from "Glenelg ServiCenter" to Lucky Dog because:
  1. He is really located in Glenwood and not Glenelg, and
  2. He feels that his shop is much more than just a local facility!
To get to LDG, it is located on MD 97 (a.k.a. Georgia Avenue) about 2 miles south of I70 and north of Olney. A map is on John's website (http://GlenelgServicenter.com/).

RSVP List (Updated December 16th)
Matt L. (CmdrVimes)
Mark S. (mdsbrain)
Art & Claudia (chows4us)
Chad M. (cambowl)
Will & Chai (Wagnbat)
Andy L. (etickt)

I noticed that the other day when I went to his website. I was thinking about posting a doomsdayer style message with a topic of something like "The Glenelg ServiCenter is no more...". Obviously inside would contain good news about the name change.

I'll be there. He's only 15-20 minutes away from my house and I want to talk to him about some stuff I'm thinking I want done with my car.

Probably not -- I think John will be pretty busy acting as host, and he does nearly all the work himself. But give him a call at 410-489-0230 to make sure.

I don't see why it would. The open house at the garage doesn't start until 1pm. The Tate breakfast usually starts winding down around 11:30-12:00. So that would leave an hour to get to the garage. Which should be enough time.

No breakfast this month...unless someone else wants to host it. The 17th is when Paul and I get together with his family for an early Xmas, as we leave for Key West the 22nd.

Not sure if I can make it yet... but if we all bring something, we could make the breakfast happen...
Katie.....Where do they keep the table and DCMM sign? Is it at Tate, or do you bring it?

Grits? yuck
Sally, the card table is mine as is the DCMM placard. However, if I know for a fact that you guys are going to have a breakfast, I could drop them off at Tate before the 17th. I'm sure they wouldn't mind keeping them tucked away for a week. If you do decide to have the breakfast, when you're finished, take the table and placard with you. Tate isn't a storage facility, and I won't be back til Jan. 5th. We can work out the transfer of the items at a later date.

I agree with katie on that. Please leave the grits at home.

ok, Looks like I will be able to go to the breakfast. Unfortunately I have plans in the evening and will not be able to go to the Lucky Dog Garage. Whos going to the breakfast and what do we need to bring? Lets coordinate our efforts!....I'll bring the OJ.

Whoops -- I caught the spelling error in the text, but failed to update the underlying URL . So I just tried to correct it again.

Anyway, the correct url is events@dcmetrominis.org.

Thanks -- Tom
