Tonite's list counts 24. John tells me he will have enough goodies for 30.

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow -- Tom

This may be a dumb question but...

Do you have to be a member of DCMM to go to the open house?

I wanted to stop by check out the shop and some MINIs.

My MINI is on its way.

And if it's open to all people do I need to RSVP or only if I am entering a car in the show or eating afterwards?

I hope I am not out of turn for speaking for John and Tom. No, you do not need to be a member. Hope that you came by.

It was a good time.

Got to get an 'inside view' of the shop, and the potential it has to offer our Mini's in the future.

John was a very warm and welcoming host, and provided a gracious spread to keep everyone sated.

Was fairly social, and everyone had a good time. Except Krut's dog Cooper, who had a frozen frog he found under a pallet. ICK!

It wouldn't be crunchy if you took out the bones.

John is a valuable knowledgable guy.

He was the FIRST really knowledgable guy I talked to about MINIs and have followed his advice exactly since (and intend to do so in the future).

Great Shop.

It was good meeting some new people. This was my first DCMM meetup of any kind since I just got the MINI last week. Thanks to John and Will for hosting the event. It was nice to see the shop and graze at the buffet table

I look forward to having John do some work on my car in the (hopefully) near future.

I had a good time. Finally got to take the MINI to a DCMM event. (besides the business mtg.)

The garage was very nice, many cool cars too.

Rumor has it the fastest car in the whole place is the '59 Vespa.... can anyone confirm?

We came from NoVA, so to get there, we took 270N to exit 6A East. On the way back, we decided to take Georgia South all the way to the Beltway. That wasn't much fun, not only is traffic bad, the road isn't very nice on the suspension. I'd advise using 270 if you need to get to and from the shop from NoVA. It's definitely worth repeat visits.

very impressed

Had not really planned on motoring out to John’s stupendous digs - but really glad I did. Just the array of equipment alone speaks volumes about the capabilities of his garage. Anyone that has mod’s done by this shop will not be disappointed. I was also impressed with the quote on a pulley install.

John – we are the lucky dogs

Sorry I flaked and had to miss this cool event. Was really looking forward to it, but this was finals week for me, and I was very behind on some things that were due yesterday. 3 weeks off starting tomorrow. Phew.

samiam, i was thinking about a pulley install as well, if you do not mind what did he quote you, and was it for the parts as well.

Thanks in advance

re: quote

Not comfortable posting the quote directly on the web. I suggest you call them – I ‘m pretty sure they would give you a quote over the phone. Price was slightly higher than a pulley party price

But before you get a pulley I recommend that you listen to what Randy Webb has to say about the subject. Whiteroofradio did a podcast interview on this subject that is extremely informative. BTW you don’t need an ipod to listen or itunes

Lucky Dog

Something I did notice - didn't see a MINI flag hanging from the ceilling. Others but not MINI. (I could be blind)

Treasurer: Would be happy to handle purchase of a 60" MINI logo flag as an appreciation gift. Cost would be under $30.

Does a motion have to come from the floor?

Yeah right next to the Ferrari Club of DC flag - but even bigger. We may be poorer than the average Ferrari club member but we've got a bigger flag sorta thing!

He has a DCMM cling on the front door. There's defintely an Audi flags on the ceiling. I got it's reflection in the Ferarri when I was taking a panorama shot.

Anyone know the origin of the word "swag"?

Well, there's always Urban Dictionary, but I think a better reference can be found at Dictionary.com under the slang definition.

Slang. Stolen property; loot.

Kind of like 'loot', which has been pretty common the passed few years. 'Hey man, grab the swag'. Sounds correct to me. Just now it's used as to specify loot, as in Mini Swag, or Motor Swag.
